I've read somewhere in the forum that dialing *18 (with Verizon) on your phone will find the closest tower. Is this true? I've tried it on my treo 650, and after dialing, it beeps repeatedly and then hangs up the call. Does that mean that it worked?

Another question, have any of the Verizon users noticed that after hanging up a call, the orange indicator light turns on for a few seconds. I changed the signal strength meters, and the arrows were green indicating data usage. Anyone else seen this?

IT works for me on sprint, the beeps is the feature turning on for me. If you do *018 it turns off the feature, if you leave your calling area sometimes you need to do that because your phone is searching for a tower in your area.
