I doubt that they'd fix this for a number of years anyway. It takes large corporations, such as Sprint, a long time before they can change direction. Momentum's a difficult thing to oppose.

I think he's afraid that people will abuse this. Once you figure out how to dial into the voicemail of your S.O.'s phone, the rest is easy enough to figure out on your own, but once you figure it out, many conclude it is a secret best left unshared so they keep it to themselves to use if they get in a jam.

THIS BRINGS UP A GOOD POINT: Make sure you have a passcode on your PCS voicemail, or others can listen to your voicemail using this trick!

Don't you mean it's an "abuse" best left unshared so that you can continue to abuse it? What type of "jam" would require you to use this anyway? As opposed to using a cell phone or land line regularly??

I know I won't be abusing this hack, as we BARELY get through half of our 700 minutes of family plan....I really don't know what I'd use it for, but it sure is neat!

I've been with Sprint since '98. I currently have 3 lines of service with them, with a loyalty discount of15 percent off our plan. We have 2000 minutes shared with N&W @ 7. I also asked them to throw in Vision for free on the primary line and they obliged. (I still get the $5 DL discount) Unlimited PCS to PCS is also included. Our bill is about $90/mo. I think it's a pretty good deal, considering we no longer use a land line phone. If you stick with Sprint, they will usually take pretty good care of you.

I'm not any more special. But I did figure it out on my own.

And the other person is right, I DON'T want it abused, because some day I may use it.

Which I don't now... b/c I have plenty of minutes. But if something ever happens that I need it, I want there available for me.

All I'm asking is that people don't take it for granted. If you need more minutes, take my OTHER advice and haggle the hell out of Sprint for them.

I've always been impressed with how Sprint keeps their warranties --- and usually, I have found their customer service to be pretty solid

overall, I"m a very happy Sprint customer - I would recommend them to anyone

But what if i want to travel to Ballyuinshistan? The whole world uses GSM, I'll be a laughing stock...

Just kidding If I never leave the USA again I will be very happy. I am a big Sprint fan been with them for several years and had three interactions with customer support and came away with each problem solved. I probably pay more than I have to for my plan as I have never haggled with them. I still pay $15 for vision for instance. I believe the only discount I receive is a 10% "corporate discount"

The zeros represent your voicemail access #.

Yes only works on Sprint IF you have PCS to PCS.
But don't calls to your voicemail get taken off your minutes? i thought whenever i called my voicemail in the day during peak minutes it went against my minutes. are you saying calls to voicemail are considered PCS to PCS and are free if you have free PCS to PCS?

Sprint customer service does seem to have gone from horrible to generally acceptable in the last year. I think they outsourced the call center to IBM about a year ago.

Be prepared for a massive coverage/capacity upgrade. Sprint already has same number of towers as Verizon (~21K each) but Sprint will add 14K more CDMA sites on existing Nextel sites over next couple of years. I imagine it's more about EVDO capacity but they will be able to fill any gaps more easily.

    Southbound,

You are correct calls directly to VM takes minutes. The "hack" of dialing into someone elses VM, then accessing your voicemail from there ,is seen by the system as PCS to PCS. So if you have PCS to PCS you won't have those minutes deducted from your minute bucket.

For the record I have more minutes than I could ever use and only use this in a pinch.

Stay tuned supposedly there will be some big changes on Sep 2. Rumors at PCS intel say free incoming calls will be an option and calls between Sprint and Nextel subscribers will be considered M2M (free) among other things.

IMO if you have a 650 the Data savings alone would make Sprint a better deal than VZW. Throw in all the new incentives from the merger and the ONLY reason I'd consider VZW is if there was NO other carrier.

    just my .02

I don't see any improvement in service. The store near one of the offices where I work has wait times up to 30 minutes. I spent all afternoon on the phone with calls to Customer solutions - with no solutions at all. I was disconnected, and one rep had the hardest time transferring me to the supervisor. When their triage program transfers the line to customer solutions, there's always a very loud series of tones. They have you punch in your number and give your SS # or password in the auto portion and then ask for everything again with the live person.

And I don't usually make people combative. But for some reason these guys seem to attack me immediately.

They say they can't transfere me back to the original agent, and then they can.

This is a phone company that deals in data and they mess up at every step with my data.

I may just have a Sprint gremlin. All I want is a phone that works.

Was your phone under warranty? I just got a new Treo 600 from Lockline, so now I have the 12-mth Sprint warranty. How exactly did you get a Treo 650 next day air...?
