I was playing around with the settings and under preferences > network, I see Locked at the bottom. I thought only GSM phones were locked from their vendors. Anyway, does this mean I'm stuck with National Access or is there a way to unlock the phone to use other carriers? TIA

The locked means the network settings are locked so you can't mess them up easily. You can unlock it by clicking on the lock button. It has nothing to do with the phone being locked to a carrier. CDMA phones aren't easily moved to another network like GSM phones. Do some searching and you'll find a way to move a Sprint phone to Verizon.
