Great News! (Sorry if this has already been covered).

My red power button has been fixed with this update. My treo now instantly turns on and off using this button, even when I rapidly push it several times. Usually, I would have to wait a few seconds, or push it twice to get the device on.

This update really changes my whole attitude about this phone. I used to think of it as a very PDA-centric device, mostly because of the dialing delays. Now, I feel like I have a real phone again.

I've had quite the opposite happen.. it's taking me 3 and 4 presses to get my screen to come on. that wasn't happening before.

It's real, on her Treo at least. She's my wife (yeah I'm the guy she's kissing ) and the 1x is there. When she disables Skinner to use the default blue coloring on the phone screen you can't see it. With the silver skin, you can see it but it doesn't do anything. You can't click on it and it doesn't go away when not connected to Vision. It's even there when the radio is turned off.

Here's a picture of her Treo taken with mine. You can barely see the faintest hint of blue to the left of the time, it's very light. Sorry for the blurry picture but I couldn't find my digital camera so the Treo's will have to do. If there are still doubts about the authenticity of the 1x I'll make sure to post some pics of it once I find my camera.

The Sprint network in PA has proved to be pretty good. I've been impressed so far. Yet nothing compares to Canadian GSM.

After all this reading I DO deserve another Beer! and scandalex A.A. don't like me, I had the whole meeting drinkin' in the parking lot. And YES you need to read the posts, before you ask a question, it for Treo points! I f I can sit there and read them all, while getting b*tched at for being on my Treo again, so can you....

Okay, here's my follow up. Yes, I've installed the update. As I mentioned earlier, none of my apps/info transferred over, so I spent the last few hours reinstalling my apps manually. I had a headache so huge, I had to pop 2 Excedrin pills...literally!! Think of all the passwords and preferences I had to add back!! Just as well, since I was able to clean house of apps hardly used.

By the way, I followed the advice of PalmOne to the letter in doing the update. However in retrospect, maybe I should have followed the advice of Evilghost instead, because maybe this would have spared me the heachache of having to reinstall everything...who knows?

Yes, it does appear the phone calling app is faster, or should I say, less delay. I tried the speakerphone too, and I'm pretty darn sure it's noticeably louder than before. I can't vouch for the memory increase, since I had to do a manual reinstallation of everything, and left out things here and there.

Here's a question please: How and where do I find and access the BT DUN feature? I don't see this anywhere. I don't see any small computer icon on my Phone app screen either, as another poster previously mentioned. (Yes, I've confirmed through the Phone Info menu that my firmware is now version 1.12-SPCS). After all the pain I've been through, I now want to try out BT DUN but don't know how. Detailed explanation appreciated.

PS: Regarding the "vomit" issue mentioned earlier...yes, I would have to agree. I don't like scrolling past the same quoted stuff ad nauseum.

    Thanks, Casey.

Casey Cheung, you need to got to your phone pref. & click on Bluetooth, then click on. Then BT will come on with choices, then take a look at your main screen, you'll see a lil' laptop...that means its on.

It's killing me. I think I literally scrolled through an entire page of nothing but your posts.

Seriously, read the page, collect your thoughts, and then compose it. The only reason I can see for someone to vomit out the sheer number of quoted posts you do is to rack up your post-count. At this rate you should hit 1,000 by the end of this thread. Then you will be "God-Like!".

If anyone else finds it annoying please speak up so I don't get pooped on for being insensitive. If there's an ignore feature, I'd love to add scandalex. The post quality is absolute zero, coupled with the excessive binge/vomit-posting.

Mr Evil, you have a right to post what you like, as do I. Vomit? Interesting choice of a word, I feel the same way regarding a lot of the crap I read on here. God-Like, please, I dont think that highly of myself, you shouldnt either. Post count of 1000.....that was exceeded over a year ago, but you werent here back then; besides, most people (who know me) know that post count doesnt impress me; thats not what I come here for.

When I am posting from work, I'm sorry I dont have the time to read the entire thread to its very end as you would like me to, then post my "absolute zero quality" post after I have "gathered my thoughts". I post as I go along!

Now, just to clarify, when I am off from work, I seriously doubt I have a page of "1 or 2 liners" and whats even more interesting is that I dont live on TC like some of you do.

As far as ignoring me, click on your USER CP and scroll towards the bottom (left hand side) click ignore....(how's that for useful)?

    Have a good day Sir.....

Does that mean kblights can totally over-ride the new keyboard dimming? I am as sensitive to low scan rates as you are, and I also think that the keyboard dimming is kinda backwards anyway.

    Reverend,

Aaah, yes, thank you! Now I get the computer icon after following your explanation. Now as for actually using BT DUN, I guess I will have to read the updated Sprint manual to figure it out, which I can't stand to do. I will try out BT DUN another time, since I'm in no hurry because I already use PdaNet.

Do you still have one of the phone prc's that change the connecting and disconnecting picture? If so, isnt that the phone app and you would be using an old version of the phone app that didn't have these features.

EDIT: OOPS Saw you had this answered in another thread. If you are still unsure how to delete it, try using FILEZ and look for the phone app and delete.

Expect to pay $50/month for the pleasure. I'd love to be wrong, though.
    I agree.

I've been worried about this as well. Hopefully I'm worrying or nothing but it would be prudent for many of us to casually post that there is no way we would pay anything above and beyond the current vision charges for this officially OK'd feature. Although the average SPCS rep and supervisor might not ever read (or stay on top of) this and other similar forums, presidential appeals and executive office folks do for the most part.

    To put it into perspective:
I'm with SPCS because the vision charge is one charge for unlimited data use. A new feature was added to our smartphone and it would be nice to not be penalized for checking out how useful it could be when traveling or wanting an alternative connection such as BT DUN.

Other loose ends I have encountered on this thread:

BT 1.0 (w) is correct and you will see a new handy dandy laptop/computer tiny logo up top on the right side when in the dialer (on the phone screen) once
DUN is turned on in the BT prefs. You're fine even when it says 1.0 (w) in the about bluetooth manager or in a third party file reader.

My scala 500 connects fast but does not have a good range.

My update went well and I will experiment with BT headsets outside and in areas where there is no interference from WIFI and my homemade lentil soup heating up in the microwave; the only thing i would use a microwave for when it comes to eating something heated up in that thing.

if my scala 500 is not within inches of the handset, it is pretty much useless for me in most environments.

    Thanks

    Mike

Did you follow the standard or alternate (hard reset) procedure to upgrade?

Do you have Bluetooth enabled? I think the consensus was that the multiple button pushing to turn the 650 on was tied to have Bluetooth on. My 650 seems to require fewer multiple pushes to turn on, but it's not perfect in that regard.

Updating Documents to go, is the software that comes with the Treo 650 a registered version or is it some sort of trial. I want to download the update but have no registration code. I looked on the 'menu' 'reg info' but it is blank, I dont have anything on my PC at for Docs to go. Earllier someone said install it on your PC ... I cant install it if I dont have a code to download it?
I use Doc's To Go on my palm and if the update is good I could probably use it.
    Thanks for the help,
    Nathan
