    I have a new treo.
I subscribe to vzw family share.
    I have vzw unlimited data.
I don't pay specifically for a txt message plan.
Am I correct in assuming txt messages on the phone (treo) are charged at the ala carte rates?
I've used the yahoo web messenger program on the treo's blazer.
I would download and install the yahoo messenger program on the treo but I fear each msg sent would be at the ala carte price. It's frustrating paying $40 additional per month for data and not have msgs included.

Now is where I hope someone tells me I have it all wrong.

Text messaging (SMS) is not data. So if you use Blazer, then its unlimited (per your plan), but if you use SMS, then its the $.05/message or some such price. Now the real question is whether or not the Yahoo client uses SMS or makes a network connection somewhere.

Verizon messages = $.10 for out going and $.02 for incoming.
Verizon pictures = $.25 to or from
Dat plans don't cover either of these. If you plan to do a lot they have txt and picture packages.

    ok, I think I understand.
Next question: does the yahoo messenger client for treo (not through blazer) operate using SMS or some other way that makes it data and not sms?

    SMS:

    http://mytreo.net/downloads/details-...r_for_Yahoo%21

    -------
Note: Incoming Messages received using SMS for ultimate reliability. See your carrier for an appropriate SMS plan.
    -------

So you'll need an SMS plan with lots of messages for this to work for you.
