first of all im using verizon as my service provider. i just got a verizon treo 600 and it is great. when i called up to activate the phone they said i needed a data plan, yet i thought i could use QNC or w/e else it is to get free internet. i didnt feel like paying 15 bucks a month for 5mb and even more for unlimited so i got pay as i went so i could just activate the phone. so now im reading in other posts that people on the national access plan can use QNC to get online and it only takes minutes away from your plan....is that true? my brother told me that the national access plan excludes treo (when it says free internet). im really confused on this whole internet thing. all i want is it for free like i use to have on my other cell phone. k thanks a lot in advance

Be VERY careful if you don't get ulimited DATA. The Treo doesn't disconnect automatically and constantly pings the network. Someone one here got a $3500 bill.

Do a search for Verizon data and read some of the horror stories and possible fixes.

    Good Luck!!

there's been a lot of discussion here about voice and data plans for all carriers, and I don't recall anyone being able to get data for free. I think your bro and the specialist are right; but if you are able to somehow get free data out of Verizon, well, you can probably sell that "how to" for big bucks on ebay!

i got the treo 600 mainly so on weekends and after 9pm weekdays i could go online for free (using the dial up), but when i went to go activate my treo i couldnt do that because i HAVE to use their data network. im a little pist now but im still loving the treo. i may sucker in later to buyin a 5mb plan juss so i can use verichat during the month. i sure hope though i find a way to get online for free before that though. like my bro right now...he has a treo 650 on the verizon network...but on their computers it says hes using an audiovox so he can dial out for free and no data plan needed...i wonder if i could change my esn....

I don't get it - you want to dial up another ISP using your Treo 600? Where does your bro "dial out" to?
