Does this mean if a button gets warn out after let's say 15 months then I can go to a Sprint store and pay only $10 for a swap and the $60 only applies towards me losing my phone or dropping it???

No, you have to mail it to the insurance place and they mail you a new one (I asked the sprint guy that very question when I signed up).

    [edit]

To answer the second part of your question (or maybe the first) I think the consensus is:

$10 - phone broke becuase of manufacturer defect (i.e. a key stopped working on the keyboard and there's not a knife sticking out of it).

$50 - phone broke and it's your fault (i.e. a key stopped working on the keyboard and there IS a knife sticking out of it).

Does anyone know if this works like an RMA? they send you a new phone and you send the broken one back so you are not without a phone?

You don't have to ship yours back until you receive your replacement (mine took a week). They include a post paid envelope.

sprint is staring to take advantage of the pcs replacement plan. Now instead of replace you broken phone "because of man. defect, they strict a insurance paper in your face".

I tried to return yet another broken treo 300 because of the famous broken hinge problem. before the sprint tech even pulled up my account they gave me a fly with the insurance number on it and told me they would replace "and hinted to the fact that I might get a 600 instead". I tried to explain to her that this was my 4 treo 300 and the broken lid was normal, and that I replaced all four treos at the same location. She told me sprint does't handle that anymore and gave me the flyer again and proceed to help the next cust. So I went to another store and got the same results.
the cost of isurance is going up because manufacter amd sprint are not standing by there productsm but instead trying to dump them on Lockline

"sorry for the content I'm typing on a treo 600 keyboard"

If you don't have any insurance coverage to protect you from a loss; then I say go with what the wireless provider is offering. 5.00 a month is a small price to pay to get a replacement/new phone.
