Are you sure you need the 3.3v converter. The USB cable that comes with the 650 does not have a converter and USB is 5 volts.

Forget that last question. I was reading the spec that you had posted from Palmone and the serial signals are separate from the USB signals and the serial signals are 3.3v with a weak pullup which means you have to use 3.3v signals. Sorry about that.

So I actually type in "#000000" in the field for Service Programming in the PST instep of the "123456" number that is my current MSL?

Thanks for all your help so far!

Hey Mines, I'm interested in that cable but would like to "rent" it out to other people here at Treocentral. I can buy it from you at whatever price you want but won't profit from it if anybody else needs it. Maybe keep it honest by putting a deposit via Paypal in which you get it back (minus shipping) once tha cable is returned. Sounds fair?

I am using the Quallcomm PST 2.7 Build 91 (wich is the very similar to the Kyocera PST 3.2 Build 7). My Kyocera PST wont let me connect either. But my Qualcomm does. But I am having trouble writing to the phone.

I found these links (they are very slow downloads):
    http://upstfiles.web1000.com/Infosoft_Universal_PST.zip
    http://upstfiles.web1000.com/kyocerawpst.zip
    http://upstfiles.web1000.com/QPST2_7.zip
    http://upstfiles.web1000.com/RadioComm_v7.1.1.zip
    http://upstfiles.web1000.com/unicdma1095.zip

The InfoSoft I can get to start (error messages regarding the installation)
    The Kyocera I mentioned.
    The QPST is the Qualcomm
RadioComm wont connect either but has USB support. Wont let you chose any other COM port besides (COM1 - COM4). So no luck there either
    The Unicdma is primative

So I am confused. I think my Qualcomm doesn't write when it doesn't like a setting that I have entered. But I get closer and closer everyday.

Hey mines, any chance we could get a copy of your Kyocera PST ?

WHY IS THIS SO DIFFICULT! I am having trouble sleeping at night because of this project.

OK. I used Kyocera PST Chameleon Version.
    I will upload.

Wow, Justin, Can you verify that original serial cable has line driver (chip) for converting singaling voltage?

The cable that I have is an adapter that fit into the old treo 600 cable.

Just out of curiousity, will verizon do this without giving any flack? (activate a non verizon esn?)

or did mines just get lucky finding someone who didn't know better.
  14. #54
I think Verizon will look the other way on this one as it keeps a Verizon account open (accounts are obviously more profitable than phones). At the same time, they don't have to worry about your non-Verizon phone(s) overhead (i.e. insurance, technical issues, etc). I am not a Verizon spokesperson but it looks like it's a user accountability/risk issue.

Also, I think if you can't find someone who will do the ESN change for you, call again and find someone who will.

    Good Luck!
Mines, can you write up a little summary how to use this program?

    Thank you,
