    Hi fellow T600 users.
I pay about $8 a month for txt msgng on Verizon, and another $45 for unlimited net access. I also get charged for every pic I send. Is there any way around this? Most of my txt msgs go to my GF who also uses Verizon (but just has a regular old phone, no color, etc.)

If you pay $45 for unlimited data you have to pay per picture too? Are you serious?

Use Snapper Mail to send pictures. It is then free (versus MMS which is 25 cents to send and receive!)

I was frustrated with paying Verizon for SMS in addition to unlimited network, so I set up a web page to send SMS messages to the various carriers via email (using the various email addresses available to access the SMS gateway, like 123456789@vtext.com). All I do is access the page using Blazer, type in the message and the recipient's phone number and click Send. That saves me a dime, and by directing replies to an email address, I even save the 2 cents for receiving an SMS (just pick up the email using Chatter, which notifies you when new email comes in).

The basic PHP script for sending email to wireless carriers is available here:
http://giombetti.com/scripts.gio (at the bottom of the page, "PHPmyPagers")

    Chatter is available here:

Your GF has a "regular old phone, no color, etc."?!?!?! Get her a new phone with color! Then you will have all of this good karma, and perhaps that karma will lead you to a serendipitous rendezvous with a Treo 650...

...although, you'll still have to pay for MMS.

p.s. - use snapper or any mail client.

ohhhhh... that would be totally awesome save that I don't have one.

I have a lovely clie pda and a motorola v710. Yes, yes, I know, I can hear you murmuring now. 'not the right place' and whatnot. we all have the same goal: using our respective pricey toys without being nickle-n-dimed to death by verizon.

no worries. I'll find a way....

    thanks

Man, and I complain about my Sprint bill for 2 phones, 1,050 anytime minutes (combined) including 1 $10 a month unlimited Vision plan for $100 bucks a month. Verizon is insane!

I send pictures that way as well but never got them to be received properly by a non-PDA phone.

A replacement app for MMS which circumvents VZW picture messaging rates would be appreciated.
