    The rumors are true.
    Today at 10am I purchased a Treo 600 at a Verizon retail
    store outside of Boston, MA.
    It was 449.00 with a 2-year contract.
It happened almost by accident. I was getting another phone
replaced and casually remarked that I desperately wanted
Verizon to carry the Treo Ace (aka 610) when it arrived.
Whereupon the salesperson said, "well, the Treo 600 is finally
available...but we won't have it soon in retail stores, we can
only order it from the warehouse.."
And sure enough it was so. Mine is arriving tomorrow.
I can fax treocentral the salesreceipt if you want cold, hard proof.
As to the Treo Ace - the salesperson responded sagely, "well,
seeing how long it took us to carry the Treo, I guess I wouldn't
expect to see that any time soon." Guess we'll have to see.
She also told me that they had *a lot* of trouble getting
it to work properly on the Verizon system - when they would
test (ahem) other cdma Treos out of the box, they always performed miserably on the Verizon network.
So they had to do some tweaking (this according to the salesperson).
But there you have it. They are here.

I actually changed from a 2-year with NE2 to a 1-year with the SPIFF discount. The phone is ending up being $400, which I can handle. I'd rather get hit with an extra $50 upfront and if I decide to switch after a year, I save $125. Not too bad.

As far as I know, text messages are not included in the data plan.

I also upgraded to Fedex Overnight shipping, meaning that for $10 more I should receive the phone on Thursday.

I'll be spending the next 24-36 hours at Palmgear, shopping
It's on the truck! I should have it in the next 3 hours! *excited*

UPDATE: Fedex screwed the delivery, so I had to go and pick it up. It's charging currently, but I'm already pretty pleased with it. I'll report back after I have a chance to sync everything onto it when I go home.

    So Excited!

Did anyone notice that the accessories have been removed from Verizon's website?

That page has not worked once for me since it was posted. I just see an "upgrading" page.

So sweet...just got my Treo (after spending 70 bucks two weeks ago to get a new headset, ant, and battery for my old phone to perepare for a long wait for the VZ treo)

Today my goal is to charge it, enable phone service, sync it, and download a few apps.

Will truly explore the device over the weekend. Good luck getting yours gents and ladies...we've waited long enough for this thing.

BTW, whose dumb idea was it to include a pouch without a belt clip?

ebay has a side-load pouch with clip (same one they sell on palmone.com) for like $10 total instead of $30.

    Okay, mundane questions:

    1) how loud are the keys when you press them?

    2) Does the voice record feature alow you to store the voice files? If so, what file format are they?

    Thanks.

no, you have to use a 3rd party app to record voice.
