According to our Sprint Mobility Solutions Specialist (just got out of a meeting with our reps) Sprint will soon be releasing version 2.0 of their compression algorithm for 1X.

Sounds like a speed bump is on its way!

I don't know what the heck it means but if it means a faster Treo I like it.

No - any Vision phone can take advantage of this. Essentially, much like any other type of data connection, the data that is transmitted and recieved over the network is compressed to some degree or another. Sprint is releasing a new version of their compression software (this will be a transparent upgrade to you and I) that is - theoretically - supposed to inscrease speeds for upload/download.
