    via email, stating that I have been with Sprint since June 6, 2009 when the Pre came out, and that I hoped they would consider having the Pre3 available when it was launched. I also mentioned that even though I was very pleased with Sprint (I am, no complaints), I would strongly consider switching to a carrier that offered the Pre3. It was a nice email and not at all threatening.

    Well, as I was about to hit the bed last night, I noticed I had an email response from an "Account Services Specialist" already (I had sent it barely 3 hours earlier) and about fell out of my chair as I read that she had "processed your cancellation as of your next billing cycle." LOL I immediately called and spoke to two service folks who were a bit stunned that my account had been cancelled like that and they were able to get that account termination removed. Anyway, just an FYI to read any replies very carefully from Sprint.....as they apparently have a trigger finger for cancelling you if you even hint at leaving for the Pre3.

    Their English might not have been up to speed and they may have misunderstood that you were requesting a cancellation.

    if they are cancelling acct's based on inquiries for the Pre 3, all the more reason to switch.

    Well....I really wasn't mad at anyone about it, as it was obviously a misunderstanding. But the email I sent in no way sounded like I wanted to cancel my account. In fact, she started her reply email out with "It is unfortunate that you are thinking about leaving our services. We would like to continue our assocation with you." Apparently "thinking about" was interpreted as "please cancel my account". I had a good laugh with the 2 service folks I spoke to and both were very nice.

    On a side note, the first guy I spoke to said he had (key word "had") a Pre and liked it. He then asked if I had tried out the HP TouchPad.

    Well...not sure what to say....I have the email from the Sprint Account Services Specialist with her phone number and when I called (she had apparently gone home by that time), the service folks were able to confirm my account was marked to be cancelled. The woman who got my email likely had my account info because I emailed Sprint when I was logged into the Sprint website having just paid my bill. When I clicked to contact Sprint via email, my account name and all came up on the screen and they would see that when they received my email. I did email the woman who sent me the cancellation notice, and she replied this morning with an apology.

    Now....as for kind of hinting that I might be lying or making this up, well, why would I do that? I like Sprint and have been pleased with their service. This one goof up doesn't change that opinion, I just thought it was kind of funny. I would agree with you that it is amazing they cancelled my account based on my email, where I didn't even request it. Go figure....strange....but true. Oh, and I don't know how else to let them know we would like them to carry the Pre3 unless we contact them. Not sure why that is "weird".

    Until Sprint gets a new WebOS phone, best strategy/revenge/option is to use a Frankenpre 2. Cheap rates, still using original Sprint hardware (mostly), and use a Touchpad for any webos 3.0 goodness...
    KA1
    Visor Deluxe->Visor Prism/Digital Link->Treo 650->Treo 700p->Pre->GSM Unlocked Pre 2 (wifi only)->FrankenPre + Touchpad 32 ->+ Touchpad 4G ATT + ATT Pre3 + 64 White Touchpad... bliss.

    Why are people weird for wanting a new phone to replace their original Palm Pre that has all those build quality related issues? Work related stuff often revolves around the phone, unless you work in a job where there is a lot of physical labor involved. If WebOS allows you to be more productive, then wanting a new and better WebOS based phone may improve productivity, and that can mean earning more money.

    People buy Apple computers, not because the technical specs are better, but because they prefer MacOS X over Windows, do you consider them weird for spending $1500 on a computer that would cost them $800 in the "PC" world if they do it because of the OS?

    on the original pre, has anyone had problems with google search, which as of yesterday stopped working on mine. now I have a phone that does not render pdf's larger than 1 meg and a phone that no longer searches on google. hp should be ashamed at the way they have taken care of their customers. then again, what they should be and what they are are not necessarily said in the same sentence. by the way, the webos is not better if it can't render or connect. it just 'is'.

    So you sent an email to Sprint, with your full name, phone number, and Account number, and Passcode on it? And if no Account number passcode, your answer to their hint question?

    cause you would need 3 out of the 4 options for them to even be able to cancel your account.....pretty silly if you put that all in an email

    They need the number of one of the lines on your account, that is all they ever ask me for when I email "Dan." And, apparently this was generated from the website, while he was logged in to the account, and so all of the account information was automatically supplied.

    No passcode was included in my email, but my name, mobile phone number, and email address were clearly listed in their email program. Not sure why people are doubting that my account was closed. Again, why would I make this up? What possible motive could I have to decide I'm going to make up a post that this occurred? I guess if I wanted to trash Sprint, that might be a reason.....but I sure have a funny way of trying to trash them while at the same time saying I like them and have no complaints. I was simply pointing out something that happened. The woman who cancelled my account, clearly made a mistake....people make mistakes....but I just found it a bit funny that it happened. Even the 2 support people I spoke to, found it somewhat strange that she would cancel my account so quickly. So, for you doubters out there, it did happen and I didn't pass along any information that they didn't already have by my logging on to their website and emailing them. Strange but true!

    Uhhh....no thanks....not gonna post this woman's name and phone number who made a mistake. I guess I could block out all that info, but then the next person would just say I could have produced something like that and ask me to put my next bill on here that shows it being cancelled and reactivated. I'll cut and paste the body of each letter if that would do, but something tells me it wouldn't be accepted, LOL. Honestly, LOL, when I made my post I never thought I would be challenged on whether it was real. I just thought it was an interesting story. I still don't see what I would be trying to gain by posting a false report like this. Do you think I am actually an AT&T fan that is trying to throw Sprint under the bus? I highly recommend Sprint....good plans, great price, the folks who got my account reactivated were extremely nice and helpful, and at this point I can use my Pre phone....very happy with them. Granted, I will be even more happy if the provide the Pre3!!!! So whatever.
