Sprint got lucky, getting a lot of good press and run with the Evo 4g.

This is like taking two steps back from that.

The most concerning thing about this announcement is that Sprint thought it was a huge deal. They got David Blaine to smoke some underwater cigars and brought out the cheese foam for this ... this mutant clunker. If Sprint seriously expected the masses to give this cheap-looking, muddled-concept bizarre-o-phone a standing ovation, I'm very worried about their future.

Big let down from Sprint, but on the bright side giving how much bad criticism they're getting they might have to focus on the next phone... Hopefully HP WebOS phone!

HP better come thru for Sprint on Wednesday or I'll be heading in another direction...What the H-E-double hockey sticks was that? Glad the Packers won or this would be one of those weeks where you just hope you don't make it, lol!
If "If's" and "But's" were candy and nuts we'd all have a Merry Christmas!

Perhaps people will say the Kyocera phone is cool like HP.

What a disappointment! Sprint Announces The Dual Screen Kyocera Echo | Skatter Tech

I can't believe they hyped a phone that can only run 2 apps at a time, has last years' hardware ad last years' software. 3G, seriously?!?

Wow! Who's buying them out? They won't survive at this rate.

The concept could be a huge win for HP flexible display technology if they executed it well. Lots of companies are working on devices with flexible displays. Here are a couple that could be really cool if they could be affordable, durable, and gentle on batteries. Imagine if the entire screen could operate as one high resolution display, or two smaller displays, a display on an onscreen keyboard, or 2 displays and a keyboard, etc. I'm surprised that the recent PC contest didn't have one like this, just because of the wow factor.

Just let your imagine run with the idea:

Which "they" are you talking about, Sprint and the Echo, or Verizon and the iPhone?

I understand the Verizon/iPhone hype. Apple owners would buy used toilet paper if it had the apple logo and was price at the top of the ladder. But this Sprint/Kyrocera anouncement can only mean one thing: No iPhone and no HPalm phone. They were booted from the big boy table and are trying to give off the illusion they are still relevant. It's all smoke and mirrors. I hope their books aren't.

Right, this echo will be a sales bonanza

I think it is somewhat of a drag. But it is a cool design. Just wish it be something more!

after this fiasco you better believe that sprint will pick up any phone that HP palm delivers !!

Cool design? Looks like my son's DSi. But seriously, do you buy a smartphone for the design or the functionality?

Maybe the Echo would have been more of a hit if David Copperfield was the guest star.
