In preparation for the World Cup, I went into Sprint TV to check on ESPN mobile, as it was announced in March that Sprint users would have free access to ESPN mobile vice the old NFL tv. However, the only available channels are ESPNnews or a 5.95 a month subscription to ESPN on demand. Am I missing something. Is ESPNnews the same thing and will it broadcast the World Cup matches?

ESPNEWS is the specific programming currently airing on the ESPN Mobile channel. And according to ESPN's website almost ALL World Cup matches should be broadcast on this channel.

Does anyone else have an issue with the timing of the audio and the video on ESPN Mobile? Mine seems to be off by about 1-1.5 seconds no matter when I turn it on, wifi or not.

I didnt know ESPN Mobile would be free. I subscribe to it during football season, then cancelled thereafter. I was planning on getting it again for the World Cup...getting it free would be perfect.

I am a little in the dark on the NFL. Is the free NFL network gone?

Yeah the NFL signed an agreement with Verizon instead and Sprint lost the NFL network...

Sprint didn't "lose" the NFL agreement really. Sprint just didn't want to pay 6 times the amount that was paid two years ago with the initial agreement for the same stuff. So instead of that, Sprint took out the NFL specific features of the NFL Mobile Live app, renamed it, added college games, added betting odds, etc.. Then removed the NFL network on Sprint TV (which IMO was terrible anyway) and replaced it with free ESPN (much better IMO).

All in all saving 600 million dollars in the process compared to out bidding Verizon.
