I recently bought a Pre Plus and have tested it in numerous scenarios (work, home, out-and-about) and have routinely come up with rather low data transfer rates. It seems odd that some are reporting between 800 kbps and 2 mbps and I'm seeing speeds of 160 kbps on average. I am running the unthrottle patch and live in the metropolitan Detroit area. Any one else see speeds this low with their Verizon Pre? Is it possible I have a faulty handset?

    Thanks!!

Is your 160kbps a speed test rating or the speed you download files at?

What Garrett92C said. How are you determining your speed?

Speed test ratings. From multiple sources. Actually, after I posted yesterday, I was getting between 450 kpbs and 760 kpbs, but then today I'm back to around 160 kpbs despite the handset showing full strength 3G signal.

My thing is that my handset's pretty perfect in terms of the usual defects folks complain about, so if it's just Verizon's network being a bit shoddy, then I don't want to get a new handset for no good reason.
