So the rumor is Sprint and Walmart want to team up and provide WiMax coverage. This will be done by building towers on every single walmart in the USA. Each 4G tower can cover a good amount of land and I have heard 30 Mile radius which is insane. Sprint will rule the cell phone market if this happens nothing will be able to complete with sprints coverage or speed.

This is what sprint needs to overcome all other carriers. It sounds crazy but can you think of the possibilities with such a setup.

the WiMax development and implementation is being handled by a collective entity, not just Sprint.

Lets see if we are looking at the big picture.

There is the group called "Clear". The major shareholders are Sprint and Clearwire. There are many minors including Google, Time Warner, Comcast, Intel .....
Walmart is one of the most progressive retailers in the Retail market.
Walmart has the ability to go into town and work FAST with them to get what they want.
Phone manufactures want to make this high end phone to gain larger profits.
Sprints needs the kick in the pants fast!
Hmm. The rumor has been going on awhile now and it does take time to make a good agreement for both parties.
Conclusion. It maybe more true than now now.

Not bad idea though. Walmart _is_ hell bent on world domination. There are at least 5 walmarts within 40 miles of me. heh..

Wimax 4G coming to Florida, Summer 2010! Woohoo!

Clearwire is losing investors fast than Sprint is bleeding customers..

damn verizon and at&t pushing their LTE weight.

See those #'s on Verizon's LTE test? Holy cow.... But that's 2012 before rollout. Sprint better hurry. With all that NFL money they're saving.... Hmmmm...

VZW LTE is indeed coming, however at&t is still focused on deploying HSPA and HSPA+.

See those #'s on Verizon's LTE test? Holy cow....
Meh, I couldn't care less about what VZW may be getting in labs and optimal trial setups with small user load. Let's see what happens when it's available to the masses. I doubt it will be much, if any, faster than what Sprint is getting in their deployed and commercially available 4G areas: HowardForums: Your Mobile Phone Community & Resource - View Single Post - Post Your 4G WiMAX Speeds!!
