This seems like a no-brainer, but perhaps I am missing something. Can somebody please enlighten me b4 I make the switch. Looking to upgrade from the 650 to 755p and switch from VZ to Sprint. Is it really $50 a month cheaper for the comparable voice and data plans?? Am I able to access the Web directly from my phone and use it as a modem with this? Thanks!!

    Sprint SERO:
    500 Anytime Minutes
Unlimited Night and Weekends starting at 7pm
    Unlimited Mobile to Mobile
    Unlimited Web/Data Access
    All for $30
    Treo 755p for $199

    Verizon:
    450 Anytime Minutes
Unlimited Night and Weekends starting at 9pm
Unlimited IN Calling to any Verizon Wireless Customer
    Unlimited Web/Data Access
    Costs $80
Treo 755p not available til November

    Yes you are missing something!

A $100 rebate on the 755p you are looking at!

That does not work with SERO I don't think.

Ah my mistake. When I signed up for SERO a few months ago, I bought the 700wx for $300 and got a rebate for $350. Couldn't hurt to try I guess... the worst thing that could happen is they deny you.

Yes, you are correct although you will have to have a separate program such as PdaNet or US Modem, or a hack to use the phone as a modem, but it's relatively inexpensive for the programs and free to use thereafter. My wife and I are saving over $80 a month with our SERO plans over what we paid Verizon for less minutes and only me having unlimited internet with them.
    Kyocera 6035 > Kyocera 7135 > Treo 600 > Treo 650. All Verizon. Sprint Treo 755p, HTC Mogul & Centro

You are missing the potential for dropped calls on sprint.... just moved over in July from vrz... vrz does have a better network.... although, I would not give up my sprint plan for nothing in the world... I'll keep calling people back.

My cousin, who has been on sprint for years, said I'll eventually learn to call around the bad spots. Never had to learn that such a thing with verizon.

I'm curious where do you experience dropped calls on Sprint? We switched from Verizon in NJ and Florida. Sprint has been at least as good and much less expensive.

    Sprint customer since 1998

During the Northeastern blackout a few years back I had Sprint and all my work buddies had Verizon. I was the only one who was able to use my phone.

If I have two dropped calls in month that's a lot. I don't think the difference between Verizon and Sprint is all that significant if there indeed is a difference.

This is a big YMMV. I was with Sprint years ago and the coverage sucked and dropped for Cingular. Well I just switched back and the coverage blows away Cingular. In So Ca SoOC I am very satisfied with Sprints coverage. I have tested it in 7 of my Cingular dropped spots and it performs marvelously. Doesn't mean I won't find some new ones though.
I have SERO Plan and saving me big over Cing/ATT, and very happy.

charlotte, nc to greenville, sc... areas in between.

charlotte, nc to columbia sc... areas in between...

Also had issues in charleston, and savannah.

No dropped calls in: Atlanta, charlotte (inside charlotte itself), and vegas.

Also have issues in places like walmart or anyplace with a lot of steele around... vrz does much better inside buildings of this type. At my local walmart, I'd have to use my zrz phone to place a call... no go for sprint... well, maybe the sprint/treo combo.

but I would not give up my treo or my sprint sero.... Who needs to talk on a phone while in walmart anyway?

Thanks for the info. We're in Verizon territory in NJ, but Sprint works at least as well and in some places better. My Treo works well in Walmart here too. And the savings--most pleasing.

I signed up last week for the exact same phone and Sero plan. It has not arrived yet. My cost is $199. I was wondering what other two rebates you were able to use with Sero. I only got the $50 service credit with the URANG coupon code.

Something has to wrong with your phone or you live in a small city in California that isnt on any map( JOKING). I travel California for work, about 75% of California is my terrority and I dont drop calls at all...maybe one or two per month.

I was a outside sals rep for Verizon and kept my Sprint phone and only used Verizon for businss because I dropped more calls with them.. Of course I had to hide my Sprint phone when at work.

Area and coverage is the key. One area Sprint may be better on the coverage map where as Verizon might not do so well.

Eguy, I know your are ready to crucify Sprint but some of your problem could also be the device. My wifes A900 barely ever drops calls in the areas where my 700p drops frequently...I bet if I had an 8830 this would almost disapear???
