I've had the Sprint $39.99/mo Phone-as-modem plan on my account for the past 6 months and have been doing dial up networking with my Treo 700wx using either the Modem Link and USB cable or the Verizon BT DUN profile that came with the A2DP hack.

When I am online, my data usage is relatively heavy (Using remote desktop for a couple of hours), however my use of phone-as-modem is about to decrease from a daily event to 1 or 2 times a month. I am going to switch to the $15/mo Powervision plan to save some money and already have a licensed copy of USBmodem.

Before I switch, is Sprint is still unable to detect the use of USBmodem for dial-up-networking? As far as Sprint's checks on data usage, do they look at monthly totals when flagging accounts for potential violations?

I use mine maybe 3 to 5 times a month.... they can't tell.... but then, I'm not downloading large apps or attempting to slingbox every program I can remember.

Don't be an ***** about it and you will be fine. Go out and attempt to download two or three dvds, yea, you might be in trouble.

Checking email and browing the web will be ok.. that is what I do.... I use pda net.
