I believe the answer is yes. I haven't looked at the sprint.com/sero page in a little while though. (1) get working sprint.com email address [ask Mr. Google]; (2) insert at gateway page on sprint.com/sero; (3) go.

    yes, data is included

My contract with Verizon is up on May 14th. I'm hoping that Sprint will be selling the 755p on the SERO site. I want it bad, at SERO rates. It's going to be a long month.

good luck... I would never purchase a "new" product from palm... I'm not a basher, I love my 700wx... but palm is known for not fixing issues for a while, in many cases.

I currently have a very old family plan that's been around since 2003. It's 2000 minute plus just about all the goodies on four lines. It's a really good plan but it's for me, my wife, my brother, and sister in law. It's a pain for my brother and sister in law to send me money for their lines, so we'd like to break it up and get four 500 minute SERO plans, along with new phones. My brother and I want to keep our phone numbers, so we can port to prepaid and back, no biggie. The issue is that my sister in law is under contract until September. We really don't want to wait five months and risk SERO changing or going away, plus our phones are on their last legs.

So the question is, is there any way to get this line changed to SERO without paying the ETF? The only hitch with everything we want to do is the ETF and we really don't want to pay $200 to get her out of contract. According to the first post, changing to SERO cancels the current line and opens a new one and the ETF would apply, but I hope we can get around that. She doesn't care about keeping her number, so we wouldn't have to talk them out of the ETF AND port to another provider. If possible, it would be great if we could cancel/transfer/whatever her sub line to SERO. At that point, the three lines left on the family plan would be out of contract to we could just cancel (or port) and then get SERO plans.

Does this sound doable, or am I stuck waiting five months or paying the ETF?

I think if you talk to Customer service to attempt your desired result you will incur brain damage.

Mine ends May 13. Who knows when the 755p will show up.
Now if I can get a 700p at a firesale price, with the ROM fix, that will do me quite well for the next 2 years.
That, and my area finally getting EVDO, it's only a few miles away.
    I'm fantasizing about a Slingbox.

I just called the SERO number and here's what they told me. They can sign me up and send me the phone unactivated. I go to a Sprint store with the phone and info they send me, and they can transfer the phone number to the SERO plan, close the old line, and NOT charge me the the ETF. I haven't heard of anyone getting an arrangement like this, but if it works, awesome. Does this sound possible? He said I have 24 hours to cancel the whole thing, so I hope I'm not getting screwed here.

My other question is the Handset Upgrade Program, and how this affects it. The HUP page says you need a plan $34.99 or over to qualify. With this being $30, does that mean so long as I have a SERO plan I can't get the $150 rebates for new phones every two years?

Wow. Good work. No brain damage. You are hereby appointed as the official negotiator for the TC team in all future contract negotiations with Sprint.

I wouldn't go that far. I may not have brained my damage yet, but I wouldn't get excited until I have the phone in my hand, the number is transfered, line is working, and there's no ETF. Then we can celebrate.

Does anyone know about the HUP?

Look for the sero post... it explains the rebates....

Basically, in my case, I paid $299 for the phone... read the first two posts on the link above and got sent a rebate check for $350... I'm still waiting to see if they approve the kellogs rebate (another $75)... I also got the $25 referal card (used it for gas). So, so far I have got $375 for a phone that I paid $299 for.... if I get the kellogs rebates, I will have $450... lol.. not a bad deal....

Far as you speaking with the sero people... I've heard horror stories about people who tried to get special treatment... well, sometimes it works sometimes it does not... like flipping a coin, never know what side you might get. Then again, maybe they worked out something with sprint to do exactly what the rep said you could... who knows.... make sure you keep the sprint store you want to take the phone to in the loop... you need to be asking them this question, not on the post here....

My contract with Spring was about to end. Wanted to get on SERO, but didn't want to port to pre-paid and then come back.

Third times a charm. Several calls to retentions were unsuccessful...have to get a NEW line to get SERO. Told them I didn't want to switch out and then have to come back. Eventually they offered:

    1,000 minutes (N/W at 8-8)
    included data
    unlimited txt
    single line only

    $40 dollars

So I think I got a little better than SERO. Only catch is data is $10/month with a $10 credit for the next two years. She said call back then and there will be a better deal...

    Are you kidding???

That is a MUCH better deal than a sero plan. If I wanted unliminted txt, I would have to pay $5 extra... my total per month would be $35... so for an extra $5 you have another 500 minutes (basically....).

    please school me

I read the link you provided but dont see how you could have gotten a check for 350.00 in rebates. I see the rebate for 150.00 thru Sprint but searched Amazon and saw nothing for Sprint 700p rebates available. So how did you manage to get so much back in rebates? I greatly appreciate any help you can offer...

Also, to get the 25.00 dollar refferal card can I use any other Sprint users cell number or must it be another Sprint user on SERO? If so, how would I go about finding a number to use? I know noone else on the SERO plan.

    TIA for any help.

My guess is the pm above was to explain how to get the $25 and offer a number... lol... I would give it to a friend or relative... it does not have to be a sero number, can be any sprint number.

When I ordered, I went to amazon, as the link suggested, and downloaded two rebates for the treo 700wx. I also downloaded the kellogs pdf file they have posted... then I turned them in... you could ask if people are still getting approved for that amount in rebates or read to see if both rebates are still available...

edit: This is the url for the amazon rebate... it is only one rebate though. I had two rebates and sprint combined both into one rebate check.

theog, did you buy your phone via SERO site or on amazon to get that rebate? And you were a VZW cust before, no sprint exist acct, right?

I have read hundreds of posts on switching to SERO on 4 different boards over the past week -- there is lots of great help out there!
Armed with all I'd read, I made my first call to customer service today. I have been a Sprint customer forever and out of contract for years, so I thought maybe I'd get some loyalty points and a HUP (I am eligible for $150 upgrade and $50 svc cred.) and SERO switch would be easy.
    I was wrong.
After 3 calls to different CSRs, I finally got to talk to a person about SERO. They couldn't tell me much about the plan -- only that they'd get back to me about whether I could use my 15% corporate discount at all w/ SERO, and that I could NOT port my existing phone number over. Also, no rebates and I must ONLY buy the phone from the SERO site. IE, no rebates at all.

If anyone can help, please tell me
    1) how I can keep my original number and get on SERO (that number has been way to reach me for the last 10 years!)
    2) buy the Treo 700p and get a good deal or a rebate or two

Do I just need to keep calling CS until I can keep my #, or is there another way to go about it? TIA for any tips or ideas!

Best thing for you to do is visit: http://forums.slickdeals.net/forumdi...p?sduid=0&f=30

Look for the "SERO... part II" thread... couple of threads down from the top.... or at least always on the first page. The first two posts cover everything you need to know.

In my case I'd never been a sprint customer before. I was skeptical on this plan, but followed the thread I noted above, and had great success. Basically, as I said, I was not a customer before, went to the SERO site, purchased the phone, then went on to amazon and downloaded the rebates. The rebates were on amazon, but were provided by sprint. At that time there were two rebates. Now, it looks, there is only one rebate. In addition, there was also a kellogs rebate for $75.

Right now though, I'm going through a stage wondering if the savings is even worth it... I purchased sero in Jan and since then travelled to five cities (mini vacations). Of those five, only one has had sprint evdo service... while all five had verizon evdo service. Granted all had sprint's 1x service, mostly fine, but very bad on this last trip.

I still have verizon as a "main phone" so I can directly compare the signals, use, and other features directly. Although, it is not apples to apples, since I really believe the treo does not hold a signal like my trusty verizon e-815 (regular phone, not a pda).

Also, the sprint treo drops calls after speaking for one minute or so... I have to call people back on my verizon phone. That is really getting old... really... really old.... Even my mom said you "get what you pay for." LOL... I was not happy about that comment, but she was right.... Although, I think it is the treo and not sprint's service... but I'm not 100% sure... guess I'll have to try a treo on verizon's service and see how that goes..
