    Hi new Navit user,

This sub forum is about the Navit port for webOS. Navit is a routing application for Linux. The home of Navit is at Navit's Wiki . We only do the porting and integration into webOS. If you have ideas for general functions you have to ask the Navit team to implement it. If you not sure if it is a general or a webOS specific function ask for it and we will tell you to ask the Navit team or take it on our ToDo list.

Currently Navit consists of two apps; the main Navit app and Navit-Maps. The plan is to make one final app but this needs some work to be done before.
For now Navit-Maps is the integration into webOS and Navit is the real Routing app. To get all functions you need to install both apps from Preware.

Some information how to use Navit can be found in the wiki Application:Navit - WebOS Internals

    Navit Maps has three functions:
    1. Download and maintain your OSM Maps on the device.
    2. Use Navit as the default mapping application (a)
    3. Use Navit with 'just Type' (b)

    (a) You can select Navit-Maps as the default mapping app as described here Change the default Mapping application . This will start Navit maps with a special scene when you select an address in your contacts or calendar.
Navit maps will then try to find a geoposition for the address you selected. It starts Navit straight away with the route to the address, if it gets only one result. You will get a list to select the right one from if Navit Maps get more the one result.

    (b) You can select Navit as 'Just type application' as described here Just Type: Add items to Just Type [webOS 2.x] . Now start to type the address in card view and select Navit from the application list.
Navit maps will then try to find a geoposition for the address you typed. It starts Navit showing the address, if it gets only one result. You will get a list to select the right one from if Navit Maps get more the one result.

Don't hesitate to ask if you have any comments or questions.
