No need to bug your friends...

Open a checking account for $2500 and make 2 online payments per month for 12 consecutive months. After your first 2 payments are made, your Mini (Citibank's choice of blue or silver) will be shipped within 90 days. If you fail to make 2 payments in the 12 required months, they will charge you $250 (normal retail price of the Mini).

Not a bad deal. To avoid account fees, you need to maintain a $1500 balance or set up a monthly direct deposit. If you fulfill the requirements, you get a $250 return on your $2500 deposit in one year.

That's not terrible... 1% is better than most savings accounts right now.

But not all: ING Direct gives 2.25% Plus, you can get $50 free through this link: https://banking.ingdirect.com/saving...p?p=%99WSs%A8u (Not a referral link... I get nothing... the only referral link they have will only get you $25.)

I've been using ING for about a year and a half and have been very happy with them. Of course, the Citibank deal is for a checking account, not savings, so it's not quite the same thing.

    Ahem... $250 on a $2500 deposit is *10*%.

Well, think about it this way: what will an iPod mini cost in 4 months? That's the real value of the giveaway. I'd say it's south of $200. Not a huge difference, but worth mentioning.
