Seeing that a lot of people are switching to new devices and OS while leaving their old device 'and software behind" I figured, what are people doing with all thier un used software.

Legally you are allowed to sell, trade, or tranfer your legally paid for software to another person "as long as you don't continue to use the software".

I would like this thread to be a place were people can exchange, sell, or give away their software to other people who wants them.

To start, if you own a piece of software and have a single liscense then you have the right to exchange the liscense with on other person. And after then you can't give the liscense "or key" to anyone else. two you software can limit you to a device or hot sync Id, but legally the should give you the ability to change it to another device'hot sync name, or device Id".

Let me start by listing my old unused software.

    Launch X
    Pdanet for Treo 300
    Lightwav
    Phonetechnician
    Pocket Tunes
    Verichat

And some more, but I have toi find the registration keys.

Please like help follow treo user, by giving away, or fairly exchanging our software.

    Just am idea

I apologize if I'm messing up your thread, but I have old desktop software. If anyone can use free software(but it's kind of old), let me know by PM. Some of this was before you had to register online, so I think a lot of it is usable on Win 98 or ME, maybe even XP.

I have old Norton Systemworks, old McAfee, old Paint Shop Pro, old Ulead PhotoImpact, old Zone Alarm. Some others, I need to look. I even have MSFT XP Pro and Frontpage 2002, if you can manage to get them to give you a new license number. I once called them because my hard drive crashed, it worked. Can't guarantee it'll work again though.

I'll delete this post if it's offensive to you, Clarence. I think you were actually looking for Palm software.
HP has officially ruined it's own platform and kicked webOS loyalists and early TouchPad adopters to the curb. You think after you drop it like a hot potato and mention it made no money and is costing you money, anyone else wants it??? Way to go HP!!

And some people are fools to keep believing their hype. HP has shown they will throw webOS under the bus and people are still having faith in them??? News flash: if it's own company won't stand behind it, it's finished!

Microsoft disagrees with you, you have to obtain permission to transfer MS software licenses. Same with AutoCAD and other vendors. Heck MS is now enforcing if you change your MoBo, you need to buy a new OS.

I would check with each vendor to find out what their policy is. Also, make sure that the person you sell it to can get it to work using a different userID.

I would much prefer that any software I had be tied to the hardware rather than the userID. Is this done by anyone ? Sure would make giving my hardware to my wife or son easier.

One thing I have always wondered about in this regard. What if Skinflint, Inc. bought 100 Treos and installed them to 100 desktops using the same UserName ... say "Skinflint100" ? I would imagine the more expensive programs guard lie TomTom against this by using the device or IMEA number or something to generate a registration but I would hate to see developers taking advantage of in this manner.

Whether it is tied to theindividual phone or not, I have never had a problem transferring by contacting the developer.

With the number of Treo that have been returned, I am sure they expect it. I have done it with Tom Tom BTW.
