    Couple of questions:

    1. How did you get on the screen protector if PDA is still wrapped in original plastic shrinkwrapping ?

    2. So we can make an educated comparison, what is faulty about the Cingular version ?

    3. Again, so we can make an educated comparison, what software comes with the unlocked version that doesn't come on Cingular version ?

    4. Does this DVD contain warezed software ? Demo versions ? If they were used on another Treo, were they registered and therefore locked to a specific user name ?

Well i took off the orginal plastic to put on a screen protector is there something wrong with that? I hope not..? And as you can see from the pictures..it is NOT wrapped in orginal plastic anymore...Check the pics

    2. Well the Cingular version..which I have never used IN MY OPINON(so this is only inferred from other users of the Cingular Treo 650)....comes with...cingular software and must be reflashed..to not have their faulty software present on your treo...As with most of the the cingular phones...like the rzar which i did own...it comes with Cingular's ..software which has many bugs present...(well its my opinion...others ..may differ...so bid accordingly)..ALSO you must UNLOCK you Cingular version to be able to use it Worldwide..that is a key difference...between the true unlocked version GSM...and the Cingular version...
Not to mention...on ebay or on craigslist or on Palm site for that matter, you can get a Cingular branded TREo 650 close to 250 USD(not on Palm site)...while a Palm One version GSM will run you close to 480 USD(on Palm's site it will run you close to 600USD shipped)....you can check it up for yourself...the price difference alone...should yeild some sort of questions...

    3. the DVD contains...tons of software.that was registered to me..FULL VERSIONS.etc...the person who buys it..does not have to search around for that specific piece of software...all over the interent anymore it is conviently located in one place...the emulators.etc...which i bought..can be transfered easily to the new User...thanks for your questions..other programs include Agendus, Volume care...verichat..etc..u name it i probally have it

Thanks for the clarifications. I have a Cingular Treo, unlocked by Cingular (just called and asked them to unlock it) and was wondering whether to get another Cingular or an unlocked for my wife. I always thot that peeps bought the unlocked version so they could immediately put it on a competing carrier instead of waiting to have a 3 month credit history. The price difference comes from Cingular underwriting the cost of the rebates / discounts. On the unlocked, they have no idea who you will sign up with so no rebates / discounts are underwritten. I have a 20+ year credit history with AT&Tingular so it's no real issue.

I never expereinced any "cingular" bug issues and I see that several peeps here who had 1.17 Cingular ROM's , reflashed to 1.20 unlocked and have since gone back to the Cingular 1.17 so I don't think I am alone in this.

So for me, since I have experienced none of the Cingular bugs you mention, I can unlock the phone with a phone call, the question I have to ponder is whether to spend $200 extra for the additional software set that you indicated comes on the unlocked version. Without knowing what that software is, I am not in a position to make a judgement and that's why I asked.

"Cingular has disabled the Dial-Up Networking bluetooth profile on the Treo, so it is currently not possible to use the phone as a wireless modem. An insert included in the box suggests that this may change in the future, but given my experience with wireless carriers, I'm not holding my breath."

..i hope this helps..quote from a article online....there are other key differences...but..i have not used the Cingular Tre0 650..and im sorry ..i cant cite more for you..thanks

I think that material is out of date. Since one of the earlier ROM updates, I can now see the option to enable DUN on my Cingular Treo. See these threads also:
