The team is growing and LuneOS is improving. We’ve made significant progress this month. We do our best to get a new release out near the first of every month. The holidays put us a week behind but allowed us to introduce the latest build, Breve.

    Changelog

Initial support for IM and SMS messaging
Mobile data usage is now functional but needs an unlocked SIM card and be manually enabled through the settings app
    Extended dashboard support
Location service with WiFi based position source only (using Mozilla’s location service; see https://location.services.mozilla.com/)
Charger status on Nexus 4 is now correctly detected
Improved image quality in some apps and the card shell
Screen recording support (see https://github.com/webOS-ports/luna-next/pull/93 for details)
Backend support for MMS messages but not yet integrated with LuneOS services
    Several metadata cleanups

Hey hey hey, do I see some co-opting of FFXOS code into LuneOS?

Excellent! I hope the team finds more bits they can easily adopt to speed along development easier!

It should also take the burden of maintaining that code off the team, allowing them to hopefully focus on UI/UX matters more, which is where LuneOS/webOS shine brightest

*Headbang* just when I had finished reinstalling an older image. Anyways, can't wait to try it out! How's memory management on the Touchpad now?

EDIT: Dumb question, but do the changes affect the installation process at all?

Memory management on the TP is slightly better but we still have quite some way to go to improve it. For the next release we'll be mainly focusing on fixing existing bugs and not on adding any major features. After that we'll work on adding further features again.

The installation process is the same still

Does creating accounts work on LuneOS yet? I have tried adding both a Google account in the "Accounts" app and the email app to no avail.

Do we need to update the kernel as well or just the image?

I've been able to add Google contacts and calendar accounts (cdav) as well as gmail with success.

You should always grab the latest kernel.

    Hmm, I'm getting stuck...

Using the Nexus 4. Steps -->
    Open the "Accounts" app
    Select "Add account"
Screen skips the selection section and heads straight into a google login screen.
    Enter account info
    Screen appears. (attachment)

I think the Wiki install instructions need to be updated to use the new file name for dev images.
    luneos-dev-image-tenderloin.tar.gz
    it still showing
    webos-ports-dev-image-tenderloin.tar.gz

Anyone experiencing their screen brightness dropping after a few minutes? Only thing that fixes it is pushing the power button and swiping back in.

Affirmative. Im guessing it might have to do with the sleep timer, as on one occasion the screen completely turned off while i was typing. Which leads to another thing. Im having trouble selecting the text box in the compose email card, what ends up usually happening is i have to swipe out and swipe back into the card before being able to select it.

The change to image names was made yesterday for future nightlies and future releases. Wiki will be updated shortly, also to incorporate the Tailor 0.3.1 instructions where you can create luneos-root directly :-)

Should the App : Settings , System Update work when upgrading, i tried it but it seemed to reboot and then froze. I then upgraded the "recommended way"
Just wondering are we near being able to upgrade this way ?

Can anyone who successfully added accounts onto LuneOS (email, calendar, contacts, etc.) please help me figure it out?

can't boot luneos using latest nightly and recommend update script, It goes into boot loop back to moboot menu.

    mount /dev/store/luneos-root /media/luneos-root
rm$ -rf /media/luneos-root/* ($ added to get past forum security need to remove)
    tar xzf /media/internal/luneos-dev-image-tenderloin.tar.gz -C /media/luneos-root
