Does anyone see anything that could be a potential showstopper for this device as a target for LuneOS? I think this makes a great target because of the availability of drivers/kernel/source, as well as a native unlocked bootloader with adb/fastboot.

Mozilla are also committed to keeping this device going as long as feasible, so it should have a longer lifespan than other devices (we hope).

Does it already have a CyanogenMod build for it? If yes it could be a good target but someone would have to create a port.

No CM build I know of, but as I said, FirefoxOS runs on Android Kernel and drivers, so I should have all of the binary blobs needed to get the hardware functional under anything else that uses Android Kernel & drivers.

I think CM will come soon, the phone has only been out a really short while yet.

What about porting on the nexus 5?

Uhm.. go ahead: Porting Guide - WebOS-Ports

We don't even have enough man power to maintain devices that already have a running version (like Galaxy Nexus)... so currently the main focus is to keep TouchPad and Nexus 4 running and improve the overall system. So we really need people that look into some of those hardware things. Best would be to show up in the webos-ports IRC channel.
(If you don't have a native IRC client, I can recommend irccloud.com).

Timezone is a bit of an issue... the most active guys are in EU timezone. So that would be early morning or late evening for US people to best catch somebody. :-/ Our US guys seem to be very busy with work things, lately.
