I always think of the awesome team Jon Rubinstein assembled to make webOS possible. What would be the chances of him or other webOS members of the original team coming back to webOS with LG?

Surely a lot has changed, but its still the same foundation and code essentially, just a different platform currently with the tvs for now...until it hopefully expands beyond tvs.

I guess its wishful thinking, but it would be great to see the original teams working on it again and helping push it forward again.

Most likely a majority of those employees are at google or apple now, but its possible some may still be on board currently, or have an interest to come back?

"Hi, yes, I see you're trying to salvage the Titanic. Yes, I was in the original crew. Yes, yes, I did watch them drive it right into the iceberg. Work with you? Yes, that does sound crazy."

i'm joking, but i'd expect these guys to want nothing to do with webOS ever again. you don't see any of 'em chatting in here. i doubt any are using a webOS device at all. but another thought i'd like to be wrong about.

Outside of the case of Apple bringing Steve Jobs back, has there ever been a case where something like that happening turned out any better the second time around than the first time they were there?

Stranger things have happened. I mean what are the chances of selling a stellar operating system to a company who then decides they have no use for it, then turns around and sells it to a company who wants to use it on tvs of all things.

i guess the way I look at it is somewhat like the Steven Jobs situation mentioned above. Sure Ruby did some things wrong, but he also is the reason we have webOS and the team that built it. That team was passionate, but was forced to leave under bad circumstances. Having a new leader like LG that believes in it unlike HP, they could take webOS and execute the vision the original team had hoped for (with the $ behind it),. Perhaps the old team would have a spark of interest to work with webOS again; since its familiar territory is what I was thinking.

When Jobs came back to Apple, he brought in what was to become OSX and revamped the hardware. There would be no reason to bring someone back that had designed a 5 year old OS.

HP sheds some of Palm's last remnants with patent sale to Qualcomm | The Verge

Well this is coincidence, Ruby hasn't had his named mentioned in awhile ion the tech world, then I read this story. Maybe Ruby is pulling strings at Qualcomm since he is on the board...this way his current company can work with LG perhaps to make phones I hope? He don't have to necessarily work directly for LG.

Perhaps something bigger is in the works. Who knows.

Hiring is a two way street. One normally applies for a job or at least once it before getting hired.
