On the pic below you can see the DEVICE CONNECTOR option of the LG webOS TV and says:

Select the device you want to connect to your TV:

Top Box
BluRay/DVD Player
Home Theater
Sound Bar
Game Console
Smartphone
PC
External Storage
Other Box

What is missing?

Why does the TV ask at all which devices you want to connect ?
Why not just connect the devices and the TV will just detect and list the devices.
Plug in a cable to connect ..
Start Bluetooth pairing on the device to connect ...
Connect to the local network of the TV to connect ...
Touch to Share the TV to connect (like TouchPad or other NFC devices)
...
Just show two fingers up to enable connection ..
Wave the device in front of the TV and get it connected ..

If needed you could forbit/block certain devices from the list of connected devices ..

Nah, just give it a "thumbs up" to connect, and "thumbs down" to cancel /block :-)

Visual device recognition would be cool though :-)

Phone or DLNA device

edit: I wonder if that's what the 'Smartphone' option is...

Are some Smart TVs allowing a Bluetooth devices connection?

I have seen native apps goes from smartphones to Smart TV to show content, only.

webOS TV does with apps.

It may be to costomize the experience for certain devices. It may recognize specific devices later for HDMI and DLNA, in addition to WiFi or Bluetooth.
