navit misery

doctored ...2.1.2 on veer ok ...navit installs & maps still there in maps but the navit app will not launch ?? ...the tap ripple shows over the icon and nothing happens... the map app does open and shows maps listed ...uninstalled both navit & maps app and reinstalled ...what's wrong?

worked before ...after doctor no joy ...even direct install of ipk via preware installs but app doesn't work ...maps app s on there & shows maps... whaaaa???

Works OK, go to http://forums.webosnation.com/navit/ . Suggest you remove navit and install via preware (not as ipk) which also adds the speech dispatcher.

I dunno if you ever fixed this, but I had a similar issue on a Pre 2.

Fixed by:
1) Remove Navit, Navit Maps, speech dispatcher, etc
2) Go in and delete the associated app folders after uninstall!
3) Reboot. Cuz why not?
4) Reinstall via Preware, including speech, Navit maps, etc.
5) Reboot. Cuz why not?
6) GO BACK into Preware and check for updates. Even freshly installed, my Preware found an update after installation. Reboot again. Cuz...
7) Profit.

Oh. And somewhere toward the end you also need to get some maps. Either using Navit Maps or by copying them over.

Anyway, I think the not at all loading issue for me was fixed by steps 1 and 2. There must've been something like the navit.xml left behind in the com.whatever.whatever folder that was choking it up even after "uninstalling."

in the #2 please tell me how to find the "associated app folders" ...I have internalz.pro ready for that... tia!!

Once uninstalled, delete the path (iirc)

/media/internal/appdata/org.webosinternals.navit/

Edit: Of course you'll have to reload maps, per the wiki. In all the messing around I don't remember if I used Navit Maps or made a custom set online in the end.

followed all that, deleted navit & navit maps & voice & folder & rebooted & put back & no joy ...partial recovery with navit no longer stopped at the tap ripple but actually opens page but will not show maps ...maps app shows maps present ...what to do ?

Go back to Preware, update feeds, and check you don't have a Navit update? Sounds daft, but this was final step for me I think. For some reason didn't get new Navit version when doing a clean install.
