The + is only for formatting the output when you are checking the date with date. You should be able to do just "date 1207" for example. The format when setting the date from the man page for date [MMDDhhmm[[CC]YY][.ss]] if you want to set the year you also have to set the time.

For me it seems that it works when I do?

    date -s "201112072215"

    To set 07-Dec-2011 22:15:00

I desperately want this but I can't find the .rar file anywhere!! I searched multiple meta search engines but none of the file upload sites have search bars. =/ It would be really helpful if someone posted a how-to, I realize herrie said no one will help you, but this seems especially challenging. A guide to do this on OS X anyone?

Read over the GNU date man page, ie the date used in linux, and yeah that should be fine. Looks like the -s option can interpret several date formats. The "regular" date command (that ships with HPUX anyway) doesn't have the -s option and only accepts the format I mentioned in a prior message.

Does this update improves call's and overall communication. I'm having several problems using this phone (not able to be reach, dropped calls, etc.). I tried two different SIM's from the same provider, but it doesn't works. And I also have a Pre3 that have no problems so far in the same network.
If it improves network usage, I'll defenitly update the veer.

Ok then I just tried to update my veer to 2.2.3 but it stopped at the second stage I mean at the update part of touchpanel & modem, after first part it was restarted but by the time the cmd has timed out the last lines reads like this:

Rebooting and waiting 20 seconds for the device to come back
bad or error response from other side: ''
    preparing modem update
    unable to find device
    unable to find device
    unable to find device
    unable to find device
    preparing touchpanel update
    unable to find device
    unable to find device
    preparing a6 update
    unable to find device
    unable to find device
Now starting Novaterm for optional firmware updates.

the novaterm was started but nothing happens, so now I have veer with no touch capability, how to move forward from here to update touchpanel update

Reboot by holding volume up key and switching mute/unmute about 5 times. After boot type in your PIN via keyboard (if necessary), and the 'webos20090606' and Enter to launch the dev mode.

Then do these command (apply to *nix/Mac)
    Code:
    In Novaterm:
    mkdir -p /tmp/media
    mount /dev/mapper/store-media /tmp/media

    Command line:
    novacom run file://bin/cp -- /usr/lib/modem/broadwayumts.tar.gz /tmp/media
    novacom run file://bin/gzip -- -d /tmp/media/broadwayumts.tar.gz

    novacom put file://tmp/tpupdate.sh < tpupdate.sh
    novacom run file://bin/chmod a+x /tmp/tpupdate.sh

    In Novaterm:
    cd /usr/bin
    PmModemUpdater < /tmp/media/broadwayumts.tar
    cd /tmp
    sh tpupdate.sh

reboot (OLNY if everything went ok!)
After reboot do secure full wipe in device info, advanced and set up your phone afterwards.

Hope this helps, worked for me.

Now my veer is in dev mode, are the above commands work in windows 7 32-bit(especially those for touch panel update, which is main need for now,

I am getting "The System Cannot find the file specified" error when I execute the above command from my windows 7 32-bit system in the process of updating touch panel firmware.

Here's what I did in novaterm after it failed:

    Code:
    cp /usr/lib/modem/broadwayumts.tar.gz /var/tmp
    gzip -d /var/tmp/broadwayumts.tar.gz
    cd /usr/bin
    PmModemUpdater < /var/tmp/broadwayumts.tar -f
    PmTpUpdated < /var/tmp/broadwayumts.tar -f
    PmA6Updater < /var/tmp/broadwayumts.tar -f
When I try this advice, I'm being stuck at "PmTpUpdated < /var/tmp/broadwayumts.tar -f" command as I'm getting "/bin/sh: PmTpUpdated : Not Found" error in novaterm, so I think in both cases the required files are missing, from where do I need to get these files

So presently I'm stuck with the veer with no touch capability.

Those instructions you quote are so wrong in so many ways.

Someone needs to delete post #551 by WinampLlama.

They will almost certainly permanently brick your device if you follow them as-is.

    To fix the Touch:

    In Novaterm:

    cd /usr/bin

    PmTpUpdater

Wait until the update is finished (might take a minute or so)

    That should fix your touchscreen

Fully agree! The PmTpUpdater doesn't need any parameters to run. It will pick the correct file from the lib/firmware directory automatically in order to update.

    ok do:

    stop hidd

    Then:
    PmTpUpdater

Wait for it to finish and:

    start hidd

    That should do the trick

that did the trick, but the screen very dim, before updating it was brighter, to confirm it, i've checked another veer that is still in 2.1.2 it is much brighter with same brightness levels, does this update anything to do with colour?, is there any chance that we can damage the colour balance of the screen with this update
