just updated a german o2 veer to 2.2.3. (using windows xp)

it turns out that i need the modem update (as there is no 3g), everything else appears to work fine

By attempting to run the file mdmupdate.sh I found that the file was missing and I had to manually copy it (novaterm) ,
after starting the file it appears that the /tmp/broadwayumts.tar file missing
    "mdmupdate.sh: line 2: can't open /tmp/broadwayumts.tar: no such file"
where do I get that file from?
Although i would have liked to use skype and benefit from a better GPS-performance
I think I better doctor back.... or hope to a better performance using a 2.2.4

Does updating to 2.2.3 or 2.2.4 *without* the A6 update allow the veer to be recognized as a "phone" to the touchpad so that one may send and receive texts on it via bluetooth?

My veer is now my backup device, but if I can just do that then I'll be using the little guy much more often than I am!

the commands to do that is this, taken exactly from the .bat file from windows, might differ for other OS's

    Code:
      novacom run file://bin/cp -- /usr/lib/modem/broadwayumts.tar.gz /tmp
    novacom run file://bin/gzip -- -d /tmp/broadwayumts.tar.gz

//if you havent copied the sh files yet do this then
    novacom put file://tmp/mdmupdate.sh < mdmupdate.sh
    novacom run file://bin/chmod a+x /tmp/mdmupdate.sh
open up the command line(or terminal for linux/mac), cd to the directory where the extracted crap are from the rar file, and run the commands

i dont think so, i think you still need the a6 update to run text sharing

So I am having the same problem, but am wondering, if you have to do this, does that mean that the whole install didn't go well, or just the last part where it copies these files only?

i remember someone mentioned, that skype not working

    thanks
If you like my applications (SynoMusic, SynoDM, SynoFM) and want to donate for future upgrades and development

    skype works

sms sharing works without a6 update. I haven't done it and mine works in both directions and starting a new thread on the tp.

Just use the -f switch to force it.

That gives me an idea. Is it possible the A6 update is being FUBARed by one of the services running?

Is anyone willing to kill all services except for the ones that are absolutely necessary to flash the A6 and give it a shot?

OK I need a bit of help here, I have updated the touchpanel all working, but like others, I have no 3G/data so I can't log in

Clearly I need to update the modem, BUT how to do this. I have done a full erase and the device is in dev mode, logged in to novaterm.

I guess I need to run these commands.

    novacom run file://bin/cp -- /usr/lib/modem/broadwayumts.tar.gz /tmp
    novacom run file://bin/gzip -- -d /tmp/broadwayumts.tar.gz
    novacom put file://tmp/mdmupdate.sh < mdmupdate.sh
    novacom run file://bin/chmod a+x /tmp/mdmupdate.sh

But do I cd to my veer folder in terminal/cmd or do I run these in novaterm

My files look like this so far:
    root@webos-device:/usr/lib/modem# ls
    broadwayumts.tar.gz palm_nv_items.txt priprlset.sh
    root@webos-device:/usr/lib/modem#
    root@webos-device:/usr/lib/modem# cd /tmp
    root@webos-device:/tmp# ls
    bcm4319.txt mojodb resolv.conf.default
    com.palm.private_hub pipcserver.sysmgr run
    com.palm.public_hub pmnetconfig suspend_active
    dssrmnet0 pulse-PKdhtXMmr18n tokens
    dssrmnet1 qtembedded-0 webdiskcache
    dssrmnet2 rbSharedMemory yapserver.browser
    misc-props resolv.conf
    root@webos-device:/tmp#

looks like I need to copy mdmupdate.sh across?

    Hi,

tried to update my Veer on Linux using the makefile.

Everythings seems to be fine until the make processes prepare-updates. From there nothing happens.

My observation is that the last reboot command in recover is not executed. This works only for me, when device is launched in dev mode via touchscreen. If I put the device in usb mode by pressing volume up at boot, nothing happens.

    Code:
    root@tower:/opt/Palm/novacom# dpkg -l | grep Palm
    ii palm-novacom 1.0.64 Palm NovaCom
    ii palm-sdk 2.1.0-svn409992-pho519 Palm SDK
    root@tower:/opt/Palm/novacom# uname -r

Same on the mac for me, just rebooted and typed kinomi code into phone so that I could access devmode, and am in the middle of manually executing the last couple of commands, but I am waiting for a bit of advice see my above question

    just the last part

my veer took forever to boot up, so the bat file timed out

those commands just copies the files to your phone, every things else important is already done

Yeah I just don't know specifically where and how to run those commands.
I already have broadwayumts.tar.gz in the right folder, but I can't get it to gpzip to the temp folder

Ie: from within what folder, and in novaterm or from the mac in Terminal?

Sound silly I know, but I keep getting errors
