Backup on my 2.2.4 Veer is currently running.

I'm from germany, btw. I will try to get the clones to you.
The device is currently activated with a quite slim profile of mine (to have a look at everything and enable dev mode). It's not patched or something... it hasn't seen any homebrew, yet.

In my profile page it says 2.2.3 for this device, the device info says 2.2.4. The "get doctor" link leads to a 2.1.1 doctor (as I'm in germany and this would be world ).
Interestingly enough I had no issues with profile activation (the profile was created on my other veer running 2.1.1 some time back) and also have access to the app (german) catalog.

The cloning just finished and created 273MB of data.

Do you need those lvm things?

Hmm - look like I need to talk to Nutty about this too

Thanks for updating to comply with the GPL.

What does Impostah report for Location Host in the device profile screen?

so for those that updated how many had to do modem updat? And what feedback do you get on a6update? Tempted to do the update on my day 2 day phone but not do the optional updates. Want feedback on this before I proceed.

if a6 doesn't go on can you just kill process in novaterm and keep retrying. And does phone have to be in recovery mode to do this? Was that my mistake the first time??

Only 273MB?! Are you sure you made complete backup?

The output of 'lvm.static lvdisplay' from novaterm would be useful to confirm if the partition layout has changed since 2.2.3. Which to be fair is unlikely.

Many thanks for taking a 2.2.4 image for us.

273MB is consistant with the 2.2.3 dump (compressed)

"ps.palmws.com" which does not seem special as my other veer shows that, too.

I gave herrie access to the files in order to clean them from the activated profile. I hope he is not already on his work trip...

He did a great job with 2.2.3 already, I'm sure he will bring you 2.2.4, too, if it's worth the hassle.

2.2.4.... my head is spinning at this point...

@Rod, have you done any more messing with the A6 since the bricked device? Just curious with all this new info.
I love physical keyboards... but there is two devices that would make me consider a slab, one is something running a full version of Open webOS. The other is an iPhone!!!! HA HA just kidding (about the iPhone that is)...

So you created a new profile on a 2.2.4 Veer on the production server? Interesting ...

Nope, I don't go near the A6 any more. Replacement devices are too expensive to ship to Australia.

    Hi folks,

Herrie and I updated the modem on my Veer and in the process, we discovered that partitions were made incorrectly last night so we remade them with the Make file on his site.
Mac novaterm did not recognize the Veer so we used WOSQI command line for the modem and A6 scripts.

TTS and pairing work; app cat works; Skype still does not work as before (get a red triangle with unknown error). I am on a SIM without data so I'm wondering if that is the issue. I recall when the pad is paired to the Veer, that skype calls will ring on the Veer but I am not sure if my memory is correct.

edit; palm profile reads 2.1.2 and device info 2.2.3

We had to do the update scripts manually because mac novaterm does not recognize Veer when in USB. If anyone has any ideas to cure this, let me know. thanks.

The Makefile on Herrie's site hadn't changed yet. It is exactly the same as last night. What partitions created before were incorrect? Please detail the issue. Thank you.

PS, Does anybody revive your veer with Makefile on Linux?

I installed novacom from the SDK on Palm's website into opt/nova/bin. Files are dated Sept 19th. I can novaterm into devices, but not when they are in recovery mode.

Herrie wrote that makefile after my device was updated late yesterday afternoon.

Reporting in -- using a Mac (10.7 Lion) to update an unlocked (originally ATT) USA Veer.

As has been reported Novacom won't launch correctly, so used the WOSQI terminal.

Applied the touchscreen firmware with nary a problem:

    Code:
    id: 0582, family/die: 70, major rev: 12
    installed version: 13
    programmed version: 10
    firmware needs update
    retrieving rom data...
    global idac table: 132 135 137 139 141 143 137 130 136 136 139 140 141 128
    local idac table: 14 15 16 16 17 18 21 16 17 17 17 17 18 23 12 14 14 14 14 15 16 21 16 16 15 15 15 17 17 15 14 13 13 13 12 16 14 14 13 14 14 16 15 14 13 13 13 12 12 17 14 14 14 14 14 16 22 21 21 21 21 20 19 11 19 20 19 19 19 8
    panel id: 20110517-2203-4500-0201-000000007759
    scratch: (empty)
    programming '/lib/firmware/cy8ctma300e'...
    restoring calibration data...
    calibrating panel for self-cap...
    restoring panel id...
Now on to the risky A6, but I have a Touchpad I'd like to use TTS with, so here goes:

    Code:
    processing file: /lib/firmware/a6_firmware.txt
    A6 device: /dev/a6_0
    2.51.18 (0x02330012)
    fw file size: 47055
    fw file mapped at: 0x2ac7d000
I watched the clock tick past three, and then four mins... figured it was either really slow or I had bricked it. After about 5 mins I got what I thought was a bad sign:

    Code:
    novacomd socket was closed prematurely
    novacom: unexpected EOF from server
Amazingly, the Veer booted right up into a fresh 2.3.3 install -- not a trace of ATT left!

So I guess this a success... should I risk the modem update, just for completeness' sake?
