    Im assuming these Veers have a light sensor on them?
    My screen dims all the time, but its pretty annoying.
    Is there a patch to remove this feature? I couldnt find anything on preware.

    its the rectangle / circle sensor in the top right hand corner of the front of the phone. if you are using a screen protector i would recommend you cut out for the sensor.

    there is a patch to stop the dimming for the pre 3. Wish we could get one for the veer! Any patchers up for a challenge.

    Shoot..? There is no link

    I know theres an empty placeholder patch for the dimming problem on the Veer, but its just empty...

    Its a shame because the veer dims to almost 50% most of the time, same with my friends Veer.

    Check this link for the patch for the Pre webOS-Patches Web Portal

    Is anybody by chance working on this?
    I ask because of the placeholder patch for this, but im not sure if that means somebody is actively working out the fix.

    A "placeholder" patch definitely does not mean it's being worked on.

    Here is a direct link to the Pre3 version of the patch, someone could unpack it and look to modify it for the veer:
    http://ipkg.preware.org/feeds/webos-...2.3-19_all.ipk

    I'd do it but I don't have a veer to test it on.

    I will be glad to test it if it can be modified for the veer

    On the Touchpad it is enough to disable "sensord". If you have console access on your Veer you can try that (type: "stop sensord" and see if the problem persists).

    Any other ideas?

    I'm willing to put up $30 for a patch or command line instructions that will eliminate the light sensor's function, as long as there are no adverse side effects from it. Any takers?

    All that the pre3 patch does is this

    Code:
    diff --git a/etc/palm/luna.conf b/etc/palm/luna.conf
    index 38382a8..732d362 100644
    --- a/etc/palm/luna.conf
    +++ b/etc/palm/luna.conf

     BrightnessDimScale=50
     BrightnessDarkScale=10
    -EnableALS=true
    +EnableALS=false

     [CoreNavi]
     EnableLightBar=true
    In other words, it changes EnableALS in /etc/palm/luna.conf to false. If that doesn't work on the Veer, look around for another setting that might impact the light sensor.

    If it works, paypal me $30
