I've edited this thread, as it seems that it is common knowledge that the PDF viewer doesn't work very well. But there hasn't been that much mention of it in a year or so. Are people just accepting this? I was just about to proclaim my love for this phone until I checked out the PDF viewer...

It's not my only complaint. I'm a die-hard Palm guy and a dying webOS guy. Last night, I had 29% battery life left. I thought, "This will make it thru the night. My Centro could easily..." But I put the Veer into Airplane mode just be safe. It didn't last 12 hours. I have Dr. Battery, btw, and it says there's nothing wrong with my battery. The Veer doesn't remind me of a Palm phone at all (I had Treo 280,750 and Centro). Everything's a patch, a tweak, a mod, etc. I can't find a loud enough alarm. I've got to install some COMPLICATED (WOSQI, Preware, osDoctor) and TEDIOUS programs just to change ANY preferences. Aarrgghhh! "Overclocking"?? How about CLOCKING? This phone isn't as intuitive as past Palm's. The Centro's speaker is louder and more hi-fi too. And while it was no speed demon on the internet, it has always just WORKED. I've had to sift thru dozens of posts here just to find out regular stuff. I much prefer the old Palm texting scheme. I've got to straddle two separate apps and an extra step just to do what I am used to doing.

After the first week with my old Palm's, they behaved and worked well. My friends all have iPhone's and think I'm nuts. I don't like the size of the iPhone, that's why I held out for the Veer. I don't think these phones would've caught on even if HP had stayed in the game. They're too complicated for someone that just wants a phone and wants to get on with it. I may succumb to the (bulky) iPhone 5 if T-Mobile adopts it in October. In the meantime, I'll try and embrace the Veer...

So a couple of days ago I noticed that I wasn't getting email notifications, incoming texts were spotty and the Veer hadn't backed itself up since Sept. 2nd. So I got on the Palm support chat. Apparently there a Backup/troubleshoot/fix. I couldn't find it on the App site. And although I could send a text message to myself, the support guy couldn't text it to me and I couldn't text it from HP's site. So a specialist is calling me back on Tuesday morning.

I'm sad to hear that but I can't fault you for saying it. The veer has a lot of bugs and we have no idea when or if they will be fixed. And if your switching from a centro then your new to WebOS. If I were you I would almost consider trying a pixi or pre.

I tried a Pixi Plus. After two weeks of fiddling and sending it back and firth to HP, I returned it and to my Centro. I thought the Veer might be ready by now...

Well "fxspec06" that's a rather astute observation on your part. Did you happen to read any of the posts besides the first one? This phone has taken a nose-dive in the 24 hours since I started this thread. I can get about 14 hours out of the "perfect" battery with some time in airplane-mode and I haven't even left the ground yet! Can't read a pdf or get an email notification anymore. But wait!! You know what? I bet I could play yer "Wild 'N Video Poker" that y'all got fer sale down at the ole webOS general store. Yessiree! For 'bout an hour or two three I'd rekon. Befo the ole girl gives out. She's only good for a couple o'hours that ole girl...
