So I know there have been a few threads that kind of touch on this but nothing complete. I am looking for 2 things, first apps that don't exist on Veer and then Apps that we will have to rebuy.

I know the Angry Birds games will have to be repurchased, any other PDK games that we will have to repurchase?

Why can I not find app compatibility on the HP/Palm site. Maybe I am just having a rough morning... anyone have the link, I searched and every reference link to app compatibility went to the same page.

I love physical keyboards... but there is two devices that would make me consider a slab, one is something running a full version of Open webOS. The other is an iPhone!!!! HA HA just kidding (about the iPhone that is)...

I feel the same way. I want to go to the Veer but before I jump I want to know what I will lose as far as apps that I have on my Pre-.

I have also found NFSU is not listed as Pixi/Veer compatible

    Forums is listed as working

Those are the only 2 I have found at this point

If anyone else wants to contribute to this it would be awesome, I will continue to try and check out the apps the wife and posting in this thread.

I'm going to go get the Veer and find out first hand what is avail. ATT says I have 30 days to decide if I want to keep the phone or not. And in any case, by then maybe the Pre3 will be out and I can just get one of those. I have to say I do love the size of the Veer.

Yeah I have thought the same thing, I think the wife will be fine with some of the missing features on the Veer. I take a ton more pictures so the flash is a pretty key feature for me.

A lot more of my apps came over than I expected. But I'm not a big gamer.

Good to know. I have more games then my wife, but if she lost a couple of hers she would not be happy cuz I would say she spends more time playing what she has where I spend more time on forums.

Somewhat related, there has been talk on various threads about patches potentially causing some of the issues people have reported. I have not patched yet and seemingly have a good working Veer, but now I am ready to get back to patching (can't stand the 3 icon row in apps menu). Would it be a good resource for those who have patched and seemingly have good working Veers to list the patches they are using (or is that out there somewhere and I just missed it?)

That would be a good resource. I had several patches and other homebrew things running, but I've since pulled it all. The safest thing to do is just add one thing at a time and run with it for several days to see if it causes any problems.

I believe most things are safe, but until more homebrew/patch folks are running Veers, we're going to struggle with a few nagging incompatibilities. Because many homebrew apps run with full privileges, that can cause some real problems.

Would be an awesome resource, we are still at least a few weeks out from getting veers. Our sprint contract runs through like the 24th or 26th, so if we decide to ETF it won't be until until closer to that next month. Don't want to overlap that much time and the wife will be porting her number so it'll auto cance that line.

jbg I think your strategy is a good one (one at a time). As I said the big icons are driving me nuts, so going to try that first. And go from there. (Of course assuming we go over to webOS 3.0 in the near future, I wonder how much of that could change anyway?) Anyway first things first... I need to dust off the cobwebs and remember how I got preware on the device. I know I have an old version of webOSQuickInstall on the computer but it hasn't been used in two years!

OldSkool I made the same jump waiting for the same reasons. Just one person's 2 cents, but I have not been disappointed one bit. And enjoying all sorts of silly easter eggs (to me), like the first time I was in a Starbucks and my phone let me know it had auto-detected the AT&T wifi and logged on to save me potential data use.

Nice, yeah I really wanna get on a 2.x device and in 11 days our ETF is down to 60. Don't think I can wait til October, a firm price and release date on the 7 inch tab and Pre 3 on ATT could finalize this decision for me. If I had the money for an unlocked Pre2 we would be going and leaving my line off contract.

Ohhh and pick up the newest version of quick install, from the interview on the front page seams like new quick install has a lot of added stuff from the version 2 years ago.

It would be too time consuming and in the end not feasible to provide an app matrix listing what apps won't work on what devices and what would need to be repurchased.

Your best option is to find what apps you want to know about and go to the developer site and look up the application, find out what versions it is compatible with and make your determination from that.

Yeah just figured with the people converting having some info on the forums would be helpful since there have been so many repetative posts on apps and profiles.

OldSkool if there are any in particular you are curious about feel free to ask. I think most things transferred over fine for me, but I had few games.

FYI- there's no patch to make a higher density launcher (4x4). Something about 2.X coding... It's a bummer.

    lougw-

I know one my wife would miss is Astraware Casino and the CardAce games

    Hit The Deck Baseball

Off the top of my head.

(and yes I know I am being lazy not going to look these up) Just thought there might be more people wondering like I am, and I want the wife to know what she's getting into since she doesn't do the research on the purchases, that's my job.

You are killing me! Seriously this is about the biggest negative I have about the Veer, then (and yes, I realize it isn't that big of a deal). Drives me nuts to have so few icons on the screen at once and to see them so big.

I am literally going to be of no use to you. I don't have any of those.

The one piece of software I can't get to work is actually Scoop, the RSS reader that is compatible. Google errors for weeks now every time I bring it up. I intend to delete and reinstall at some point but haven't.

Finally installed preware and going to play with patches.

Common sense says the patches marked "Veer" in their name should be a pretty good bet to work with the Veer, like for example "Advanced Systems Menus -- App Menu (Veer)".

    Has that been everyone's experience?
