And all I have to say is WOW.. this phone is badass. I have been walking around with it at work, just seeing how it feels and I have been attacked by all the girls saying how cute it is and they want it lol

But really, even some of my guy friends are impressed. The build quality is sick. The keyboard is way better than the Pre- keyboard.

I was able to take advantage of the special amazon pricing so I just picked one up. I do not have a sim card so I havent been able to mess around with it.

I know ATT is not that great, Sprint has been realy working on its cell coverage but who here thinks that I should just port my number to ATT?

I actually got to play around with it at bestbuy and I agree its the tinyest, awesome phone out there. It felt really good in my hand. I wouldn't want to use it as my daily phone, I like a Pre / Pre3 sized phone, but I would definitely take it.

You should keep Sprint but try to figure out how to get a cdma radio in that thing.

    Yes, FrankenVeer for the win...

but the only gripe I have with the phone is the screen quality. The colors look a bit washed out. Its not as crisp as other phones I have used. That is probably the only dissapointing thing about the phone

My plan right now is to dump Sprint a week from Monday when my contract is up and go to AT&T. Then again I am in Atlanta, where AT&T service is strong and AT&T has local service so I can bundle and probably spend a bit less than what I pay Sprint. So the choice is easier for me.

Kicking myself for missing that Amazon thing...

@Vyruz Reaper @lougw, if either one of you do decide to leave Sprint, can you be sure to make it VERY clear to Sprint that you are leaving because of the lack of new webOS device? I know it's not a lot, but I still am of the belief that when we the customer speak with our wallets, our voices carry more weight.

Thanks, and have fun with the Veer I'm really tempted to just get one to play with while waiting for new hardware, but I am having a tough time justifying AT&T's highway-robbery $325 cancellation fees

After using the veer (I put it into developer mode) I must say we are getting jipped by not having webOS 2.x for us Sprint users. The UI is fluid, stacks are great, just everything about 2.x is better.

I am really ****ed they couldnt figure out how to get webOS 2.x on our Pre- or come out with the Pre2 on sprint to pass time until the Pre3/Slab/Veer comes to Sprint this September (that is if it even comes to sprint)

Will do. I emailed Dan Hesse earlier in the year, emailed him again a few weeks ago, called customer service to "reconfirm" my contract date that I already knew and said the reason I was asking was because I want a new webOS device and asking if I REALLY had to go elsewhere. So I have done what I can.

The more time I have had to simmer and stew the more I became ok about leaving, and the more I started to believe I am not going to lose much (anything?) on AT&T vs. Sprint. But we shall see. I will miss having my voicemail as my google voice account. I don't think you can do that on AT&T?

Same here. Looks like im planning on leaving Sprint for AT&T as well. Primarily for the lack of service from Sprint, but also because of the Pre 3. I have a FrankenPre2 on Sprint right now and its just incredibly annoying to have to roam on Verizon at all times just to get service on my phone.

Anyway, I'm giong to have to convince Sprint to cancel my contract because mine runs until December... : /.

Thx. Enjoy your Veer. I am jealous

I've been looking into getting the Veer to play with for a bit as well, but can't pull the trigger because the plans are so expensive. Idk if I'm just not looking at the right plans or what, but it comes out to almost $100 A MONTH! They nickle and dime you with every - single - service. And on top of that, the $325 termination fee is like...whoa. Writing this paragraph just irks me to no end because of how much phone companies here rip us off.

    </end rant>

No idea on the termination fee. I should be more educated on those things, but frankly I am not. Hence me waiting until next week to get the Veer in order for the clock to run out on Sprint. (I will say that is one thing I am nervous about on the Veer... will the battery make it 2 years? My pre minus didn't!)

As for contracts I am currently paying $69/month with Sprint, which would go to $79/month from what I can tell if/when a new webOS phone comes and I renew. The 450 is plenty of minutes for me. Fees of course are extra.

AT&T best I can tell will charge me $39.99 for those 450 minutes, $25 for 2 GB of data and $10 for 1000 messages, for a total of $74.99/month. Plus fees again. Now granted it is not unlimited, but I have wifi at home and work and don't text a lot and will be surprised if I come near any of those limits.

Add in the fact that there appears to be a bundle I can do with my home phone, and things look even better. But even without, seems like an easy trade for me, especially since I think AT&T service is better here in Atlanta than Sprint's. Unless there is something I am missing.

Thread creep, I know, but Lougw & SirataXero--why AT&T vs Verizon (assumes they both get the Pre 3)? I am in the same boat & was leaning towards Verizon if I need to make the switch.

Vyruz Reaper--happy for you. I have tested the Veer at both the BB & AT&T store & love it. Still deciding, but I think Pre 3 is best for me.

1.) I think I dig the veer. Much of my usage is text-based (carbon, sports live, email) and the idea of something smaller in my pocket instead of the bigger screen is a tradeoff I think I like, especially once I get a touchpad for around the house RSS reading/surfing

2.) the aforementioned bundle to save some dough

3.) I have been a cdma guy since the late 1990s when I got a qualcomm brick digital phone from Verizon, and never really understood SIM cards. Reading about them now it sounds like liberation, and as silly as it sounds I am kinda looking forward to trying it.

Regarding data, if you use something like Google Maps while traveling, you will be loading data for the maps as you move along...I'm not sure if anyone has an estimate of what kind of data use this use generates? I suppose I just need to get a dedicated GPS unit and forget about trying to get my phone to pretend to be a full fledged GPS.

That looks pretty comparable actually. AT&T is a bit more if you add in the Navigation. I have a family plan w/5 phones, and just went through the exercise of pricing comparable services to Sprint (fewer minutes and no Navigation) and it comes out to $274.96 per month BEFORE taxes. Yikes!

The same plan for Sprint (100 more minutes but i don't really care about minutes, and Navigation) comes out to $189.96 per month before taxes. I guess for a single line plan they're comparable, but for a family plan the difference is huge... $105 a month difference in fact. that's $1,260 a year. If Navigation were added, then it would be more like $1,380 a year. Double Yikes!

You should sell it to me for $51 next week, when you are done using it "for a week or so" :-D Problem solved! No need to thank me... The Veer will be enough. ;-)

Im actually making the switch next week to att. I price compared and for me with my 5 line family plan on sprint i pay $200 a month. Att will be about $210 maybe a little less. Main difference is 2 of my lines dont use data so I end up not paying for them but other than that, I'm ok with paying a few more extra dollars. What gave me the ability to actually compare again is when att offered the any mobile anytime, we use a lot of mobile minutes. This doesnt even factor in the $30 more a monthe that we will be paying sprint when we do change our phone (2 pre's and a pixie) so its actually a savings for me.

Ken and I will let them know its because they haven't had a webos phone in 2 years!

hope you know that thats not a good thing. unless you are a girl yourself. In that case, you are the target audience for the Veer.

And you're what? The target audience for Viagra?
