I mis-spoke. You don't have to pay for GPS, just for Navigation (on AT&T and Verizon, included on Sprint). Or you can buy something like NDrive, or just use Google Maps (awful on webOS) or BFG Maps.

Yup! On AT&T and Verizon you have to pay extra for nav. Which is why I bought a standalone TomTom unit with lifetime map and traffic updates included. Now it doesn't matter which carrier I'm on, I'll bring my own GPS LOL

They could charge that much if they don't want you to buy it that way, which they don't. They want the contracts.

Then if they want contracts they should bring back the early upgrade option. Make an extra $75 off my lack of patience and lock me back in...agree?

You won't get an argument here, but you seem to using some sort of "give customers reasonable options that don't screw them over" logic. Carriers seem to move away from that crazy thinking every chance they get, even if it means paying $39B to make others that act like that go away.

I was going to wait for the Pre3 but I really LOVE the form factor of my pixi plus. If the Veer is priced right without contract i think I'll get it. $400 is my limit.

Yes, I verified it. My local Best Buy would take my pre-order but they would/could NOT tell me when my Veer would actually arrive. They insisted that it would more than likely NOT be on launch day (since they did not know what day launch day was anyway). The white Veer will be free on a 2 year contract through Best Buy whenever they get around to actually stocking the device.

They also told me that "the computer will not allow us to check stock or see if any are coming in". So.. total crap-shoot as to when you'll get one through them.

Oh, and a side note. I find it ludicrous that Best Buy can tell me a date when a DVD, BluRay, xbox360, PS3, Wii, DS, 3DS, PSP, PC game or video will be released but NOT a mobile phone. It defies logic.

AT&T stores have a $35 restocking fee and a 30 day return period by law in state of CA.

Anyone know the dilio on best buy? I have a line on family plan that's never been in a contract, but would like the 30 day confirmation incase I don't like the device (my hopes are low but you never know).

with AT&T, within 30 days, i can return and my contract would be null and void and i'd be eligible for upgrade on another device.

EDIT: I"ll update my own post. Bestbuy offers 30 days as well, No restocking fee, product must be returned in like new condition, scratches, blemishes not ok.

Also, the Best Buy I called, DOES NOT YET have stock, was told that Actual availability is questionable but call in the morning at 10, when they open, or just show up and see.

GOOD JOB HP!!!! you're doing a fantastic job. It's one thing to not have ENOUGH because demand is so high, but not even have em at all at locations. wow.

Other threads have noted their stores only getting 1 or 2 units.

Another thread had HP want ads for webOS specialists stationed at BestBuys, hiring last wk of May, 1st wk of June http://forums.precentral.net/hp-touc...-touchpad.html. My guess is that the Veers will also appear around that timeframe (which gives ATT a small lead time of exclusivity)
