Just read the disclaimers of the think beyond event on youtube. Touch to share is supported by both the veer and the pre3. But "Receiving text messages and phone calls on Touchpad requires Pre3 and Touchpad" ...
    Why isn't veer supported!?

Probably sadly just to encourage people to buy the higher priced product...

how does the veer do touch to share if it doesnt have the communication coil in the back?
...This programming stuff is actually addictive but really hard :/

It depends on what is missing in the veer. Electronics? or something that could be enabled within webOS or with a patch?

Veer has all the electronics. Touch to share and the sms and phone calls all uses bluetooth(touch to share uses some magnetics or something as well). They cannot blame the HW. But they blamed the HW of the pre and the pixi when they did not want to make webOS 2 for older devices(which BS).

They are dumb if they are doing this. Lets wait for official confirmation.

TouchPad | Laptop TouchPad, TouchPad Computer Tablet PC

It is quite official already. Read the disclaimers at the bootm of the page. Veer supports touch to share, but when they write about text messaging and phone calls the veer is not mentioned.

It can always change once TouchPad is out. Its basically bluetooth so if Veer doesnt have it its only because of disabled software function.

It could be a typographical oversight. Or it could be related to some technical limitation speculation going on in another thread about bluetooth. In particular if they are going to make this feature operate completely over bluetooth they might be planning to make these devices Class 1 instead of the standard Class 2. They might not want to put Class 1 bluetooth into the Veer.

However this is still speculation until we hear more from HP about it.

I would tend to think that this was just an error in omission. I think the point of that statement is to highlight that touchpad needs a phone as a pass through. It can't do it on it's own. My interpetation anyway.

Probably to keep the veer at its small size
