I can't install the recent certificate update that HP released, it keeps failing. Any ideas? (I need to do this before the 23rd or else the big problems will occur).

There is built in App Catalog IPK for webOS 2.x and above it is in /usr/palm/ipkgs...

During boot a script runs that looks at the version of the IPK and compares with what is installed, if it is newer it runs the IPK, if for some reason it looks newer it will install (even if it older version)...

The way I fixed this issue is I removed the old IPK and I put the new one there and I modified the manifest.json file (it does not read it but I did it anyway), I also update the md5sum app-ipkgs.md5 and app-ipkgs.list with the correct file name of the new App Catalog and md5sums of the manifest.json and App Catalog file.

While I was at it I validated the cert's were updated (they were on all of my devices but the PixiPlus (which is webOS 2.1.2 supered)) and update the pmcertstore.md5 with the update md5sums as well..

Then to validate I used integcheck -ipkg

Some users are getting false negatives...

If you have the Internalz Pro file manager (Internalz Pro v1.5.0) you can use it to navigate to the certificate and open it to read the expiry date...

If you have WOSQI - a.k.a. webOS Quick Install - (http://forums.webosnation.com/canuck...-v4-5-0-a.html) you can use it to pull a copy of the certificate to your computer for examination...

Here (again) is the relevant location to navigate to/pull from. /etc/ssl/certs/trustedcerts/PalmWebOS.pem

Your New Certificate should look like this:

If your certificate did not update, go to the HP help page and follow the instructions again.

Follow the instructions in this post, it might help. (It helped me)

Fix "Not Enough Storage to Download" error (homebrew) | webOS Nation

After rebooting, if you still have the update install failure:
Go to your "Software Manager" and swipe away (delete) "App Catalog Update" even though it shows a failed install.
Go back to the "HP App Catalog" and try to download the update again. It should install now.

I received a download failed message when I tried to do the update. Now when I go back into Software Manager and select HP App Catalog, I get a blank looking "phone" and then the browser opens and tries to find http://index.html, which it doesn't. I've tried shutting down and restarting, but other than that don't know how to fix this. Any help appreciated. It is running WebOS 3.0.5

    Thanks!!

Not sure if you have Internalz Pro installed but one can browse to /media/cryptofs/apps/usr/palm/applications/com.palm.app.enyo-findapps ?

and Delete that entire directory and all files under it.

Reboot, Touchpad should notice and re-install stock app-catalog during boot.

    Re-attempt update?

I'm getting the message that Install Failed.
I restarted my device after deleting the update from Software Manager (as I've seen in another topic) but I keep getting this.
    Any ideas?

It seems there were some 'false negatives' coming back from the HP Servers (see #3 above).
That may be rectified now - I noticed that I did get a 'failed' download at one point, but that the 'HP App Catalog Update' was actually already installed!
So maybe browse to/check at: /etc/ssl/certs/trustedcerts/PalmWebOS.pem
and see if you can actually see the updated Cert (Expiry: April 27th 2037) there first - as also suggested @#3 above?

When I look at the file via Internalz Pro the expiry date is blank?? Not sure if this is a good thing or not does it make the update not worthwhile?

    Yikes... That doesn't sound good...

I'd try again on the download.

OK...so I went to try the suggestions above on my Touchpad after letting it sit unused for several days. Magically the HP App Catalog is back up and running and I have no updates to install (checked manually). Not sure how this happened, but it appears to have fixed itself. However, can anyone explain how I can go check that the certification update actually happened?

Also, I would like to understand the app that is mentioned in this thread...Internlz (sp?) Pro...what does it do and should I install it?

    Many thanks!!

    Wonders will never cease!

Internalz Pro is basically the webOS (Preware) version of Windows 'Explorer' etc - it allows you to access, read, edit, move, copy or DESTROY (in 'Master' Mode) almost any folder or file in your device with a tap or three of the finger.. so treat with due care!

If you wish to go and look at your Cert at it's location within the webOS filing system at: /etc/ssl/certs/trustedcerts/PalmWebOS.pem
you will almost certainly needs an App such as 'Internalz' with which to do so.

Is your device in 'Developer Mode'? If not, that is the first step. There are threads on how to do this.
Then install 'WOSQI' - reboot.. then Install 'Preware'//'Internalz'.. reboot... There are also threads on how to do this.
Usually also means connecting TP to your PC/Mac etc initially.

Let us know how far along this path you may already be anyway.

    Υou sir are correct.
I check it and it expires at 2037.
    So I guess I shouldn't worry.
    Thanks !

I have tried many suggestions on this page – many of which were quite effective. I now have an up-to-date cert showing the correct expiration date.

BUT the App Catalog app itself has disappeared from my Touchpad. No directory for it. No IPK. Nothing. The app does show up in the Software Manager under Other.

Anyone have an idea for how I might restore the App Catalog app?

    Thanks!

Yes, I did. But unfortunately that didn't work either.

    Thanks for the suggestion, though.

Im having this difficulty too on my Veer.

Hello forum, Im having the same issue with my Veer, I installed the virtual keyboard and my wife found it annoying so I removed the VKB.sh file however I lost some of the app icons, I doctored the Veer with 2.2.4 At&t version and logged back onto WebOS profile, I get the indicator that all apps are restoring after a few minutes all of them have a yellow triangle, Ive restore the app catalog and then it say to update how ever it does not it continues with the yellow triangle.

Things that Ive tried so far: Hitting the yellow triangle, doctoring the veer again, erase app and data and resetting the phone about four times, I need some help with this please respond and thanks in advance.

PS: I have not tried the Internalz procedure @#3 because Im not a savvy guy on this matter. Thank you

Set the date back to July 1st, open the App Catalog, search for, install and run the "App Catalog Update".

Set the date to current and delete the update icon from launcher. That's it

You should now have the updated Root Certificate on your Veer, but remember that each time you doctor, you will need to re-download the update again, otherwise you'll get the yellow triangles.

    Good luck
