Alright, got my email, got everything installed and running. App Mall is pretty much crap, Camera doesn't work right, for the most part everything else included seems to work.

SO, can someone point me to (or post) a crash course on obtaining and installing an apk? (like, maybe, the amazon store, since everyone seems to be using that instead)

Sorry, but that's really not fair! - I asked about Uberkernel, someone reacted that based on the PIC-forum there was an indication that it didn't work with Uberkernel, and GeekPeter commented that if that is the case that it is a major flaw. Nobody at that time had yet told us that this limitation doesn't exist; so GeekPeter's comment was more than valid, and did not bash the project in any way in my opinion!

That's strange. The earlier direct binary from OM that I have installed on my daily driver 4G works OK (0.4.1.2 or 3 or something if I recall correctly). I would need to uninstall it and try some of the newer binaries from OM and the released IPK to see what's going on actually.

Because it would be strange if PIC packaging broke it for the 4G TP or the newer binary from OM stopped working on the 4G all of the sudden.

Go to ACL->Settings->Applications tick "Unknown Sources"
Go with ACL Android Browser to Install Amazon Appstore and download the APK from there, go to ACL Android Downloads and install it

In order to download APKs from Play Store you need Google Chrome (on your desktop/laptop) and an extension called APK Downloader

Copy the APKs to your Touchpad and use any util to install the APK (could be ES File Explorer, Easy Installer which you can download from the Amazon App Store for free)

I think you confuse the TP4g with the TP GO 4g ;-) TP4g works fine the TP GO 4g apparently not.

TP 4G is fine. TP Go 4G is not.

And I could install the 0.6.0 afterwards, just to "send" the Go into an "endless boot" again, so as others I can confirm, that ACL still doesn't work on the Go.

... run /opt/omww/bin/uninstall-acl.sh which is the script that actually does all of the removal.
Yes this is the better option, I had concerns, because the time you have access via NovaTerm is quite short until it reboots again. But it removed ACL completely and the Go is up and running again :-)

Rod's hint for just disabling ACL to start is an other possibility to "get back" your Go without doctoring ...

Continuing on the path of getting ACL to run on the TouchPad Go ...

Some hex editing of the .ko files (to change tenderloin to shortloin in the vermagic string - make sure you do this taking into account the different lengths of those two strings, and overwrite the second trailing space in the resulting string with a NUL byte without changing the size of the file or the location of bytes following the string) gives us installable kernel modules:

Great work! Raised a bug for this on PIC bug-tracker and pointed to your resolution. Also raised it with PIC management, hopefully they'll sort it in the next release Should be quick & dirty fix for them to make

Rod, going by your "shortloin", "tenderloin" swap, I guess a similar trick could be done for other webOS devices to make it work? Care to try on a Pre3 or Veer?

probably, if you have running webOS 3.0 on them it might work too.

If not, well I expect that webOS 2 and webOS 3 is too different that ACL can run on 2.x

got the preview email but it would not install through webOS quick install. So I tried with preware but it gives error saying disk space not enough.

    -1: Unable to run command: IPKG_OFFLINE_ROOT=/media/cryptofs/apps /bin/sh /media/cryptofs/apps/usr/lib/ipkg/info/com.phxdevices.acl-for-webos-touchpad.postinst 2>&1
ERROR: Insufficient disk space on / to install
rm: can't remove '/media/cryptofs/apps/usr/palm/applications/com.phxdevices.acl-for-webos-touchpad': Directory not empty

I have about 10 GB free. Any idea?

I have LunaCE, CM9, Uberkernel installed.

I gave up on quick install because it was also returning the same error - not enough disk space.

Then I would trust the error message. Can you make space by temporarily moving out media and other files to your PC?
