    Nope there is no Java built into webOS and AFAIKAFAIKAFAIK $not$ $in$ $Android$ $either$.

    that article was written in august 2012 btw.

    Thank you. I asked that because while searching for the answer, a post here on this forum suggested otherwise..

    I can run java applets on ubuntu on my touchpad. It doesn't have access to the USB port though, I can run WOSQI but can't get nova drivers for it

    Now this is even more confusing

    I think Ubuntu is like a add on? I don't think I have it installed.. So I suppose it is safe to say that java applets cannot be made to run by default?

    Ubuntu can be run on the Touchpad as a secondary OS within a dual-boot environment. (same as Cyanogen Mod) You most likely don't have it installed. As a result, yes, it is safe to say that Java applets won't run by default on WebOS (if as all)...

    In order to have Ubuntu, you would have to do some fancy stuff with it and know what youre doing. One does not simply install Ubuntu without knowing even then, its not that dangerous

    so you have absolutely nothing to fear regarding java and your touchpad
