I'm very happy about the slow new trickle of updated apps for the Touch Pad. including the Isis browser which is a great update to the stock browser . And the new Notes app which is a great new improvement to the stock notes application. So im curious. what do you think will be coming to the Touch Pad through Preware?

I would love to see google location services working on webOS for southern hemisphere users. At the moment using google location data for wifi give correct longitude but latitude is about +402 for Pre3 and -42 for Touchpad, actual value should be -27, which is silly as latitude has min and max values of +90 or -90. This is error exists on both Pre3 and Touchpad.

Someone built a copy of Isis GUI as an app. It doesn't include QTWebKit, but reportedly runs faster than the stock browser.

I tried my pre3 and touchpad in Thailand (northern hemisphere) and it works correctly, Google location srvice gives correct long and lat. Gives error when return to Australia.
With my Touchpad cyangenmod Android CM9 and CM10 give correct long and lat using Android on my touchpad, so its not hardware but an webOS bug / error. |

With Touchpad, hold the 'home' button and press the power button, you'll see a circle on your screen (kinda like a camera flash) as confirmation it was taken. On the phones: SYM+square+P

on Touchpad it places me in the pacific ocean near Tasmania when I am actually in Brisbane. I have new readings using my Wifi for android and pre3 and touchpad, android = 152.97428E 27.34380S pre3 = 152.974246 402.152920 Touchpad = 152.97426 -42.152909 Think it may be a problem with how webOS handles signed real number being negative. Hope you make sense of this. all number are pure decimal long and lat. Thanks for info how to do screen capture.

here is my screen shot of google maps, the blue circle is my location and the map is below, as you can see it way off, lol
ignore long and lat in pic , was reading where my finger was placed to get location and map to appear on screen. Last edited by Firepower; 04/04/2013 at 05:51 AM. |

No problems here. In fact, both Bing Maps and Phx Maps on webOS 3.0.5 place the pin point *exactly* on my house. While Android on my 6 months old phone place the pin point in Maps at the end of the street. So in my case webOS is far more accurate.

This error is only in Southern Hemisphere, HP started selling the Touchpad in Southern Hemisphere Australia & New Zealand etc but cancelled them in the same week, They actual cancelled before stock reach stores. They were all sold part of the fire sale. And HP did update webos which did get get location to southern hemisphere but still has error. They didn't bother fixing it due to cancelling the product line and low volume of sale below the equator. |
