But they're not making it harder to steal. They are making it harder to get their content legally.

I'm not condoning it, but if it's easier to steal than buy then a certain portion of the population will do just that. Of course a certain portion would steal it anyway. It's us law abiding folk get stuffed not being able to watch films on our Tablets/Mac or Linux devices.
