That is an official answer from Palm. Saga ended. No carrier IQ on webOS devices.

CM7 is unlikely to have CarrierIQ in it anyway. Its certainly not in my HTC Desire build which is CM7.

As detestable as their product is, I fail to see the reasons for the frenzy. It is useless and misguided as it mostly takes all four carriers out of the equation. The problem began w/ the carriers themselves.

Very true, they did make the software but it was the carriers who have been installing the crap on our phones along with the rest of the bloatware.

IMO, carrier IQ should be stopped and shamed but it should be the carriers who are fined and bought to justice.

Default some authoritative information

not Julian Assange for goodness sake ...indicted for an international felony (admittedly not yet convicted) but not where I go first for information about this matter...

Let's see how it turns out..
At least there is a little more 'awareness' out there now!

However, IIRC, RIM denied it as well, (and another company I can't recall atm)

We've had it confirmed through a number of channels:

1) official statement
2) discussions with engineers in confidence
3) examination of the firmware ourselves.

It's not there. End of story.

I believe you Rod.
(Because I got some impressions of your depth of webOS knowledge.)

However, I am still a bit confused, by Carrier IQ's Video ....

Just a curious feeling.

Yes, I actually tweeted that video very early in the Carrier IQ saga, and I have now deduced why they show those devices:

Carrier IQ is not allowed to disclose who it's customers are (this was discovered by The Verge when they interviewed Carrier IQ). By showing devices in their video that are made by a company that is *not* their customer, they don't break that agreement with their real customers.
