If HP decides to actually keep webOS and starts making Hardware again. They should call the next iteration the Touchpad Phoenix.

With their movements as of late, "Crystal Touchpad" might be a better choice...

They should just give up. Android & iOS are way ahead and superior in every way. And then you have Wndows mobile..

Meg bragged that she had 18 TEAMS of folks who all worked to come up with the decision to keep the worlds largest computer maker as part of the company. To keep getting price breaks for parts from manufacturers for the 30x + desktops and laptops they sell compared to their servers. To keep customers who are with them for one-stop support for servers/workstations/printers who otherwise would look to Dell, or any number of other suppliers if they didn't sell the whole works.

Yes, it took 18 teams of her folks to figure that one out.

The board, who didn't even bother to interview Leo before hiring him, is still in place. They liked his insane plans. It took intervention by the stockholders to get them to boot Leo. Then they hired Meg who at first said she was going to continue with his idiotic plans.

DO NOT GET YOUR HOPES UP! The company is still moving on sheer momentum at this point. They have no leadership. No Vision. Disaster is coming. It just takes a while to stop something that big, even with gibbering idiots at the helm.

We have WebOS devices. Let us use them and cherish them, but don't get sucked into thinking things will get better. It will take far more drastic and intelligent measures then we will see out of HPs leadership.

Translation - There are no offers for WebOS that are meaningful so we will attempt to appear to not want a date to the prom.

You have to wonder if they had a deal on the table that fell through, bit odd otherwise to schedule a meeting in which you essentially say nothing.

It really isn't that simple. HP is a huge, diverse company; PSG by itself is a $40 Billion revenue organisation. With hindsight it's easy to say that the decision to keep PSG was a simple no-brainer but providing the numbers to prove it isn't the work of a few people.

It's true to say that some of the board didn't interview Leo before hiring him, which is a bit scary but today's board is significantly different. Whether it's better remains to be seen.

I disagree that 'disaster is coming'; again, HP is a huge, diverse organisation that isn't about to implode overnight. It DOES need to decide what it wants to be and set out a strategy to get there and then stick to it but imminent disaster? No.

I would name it Touchpad Fantasy.

webOS needs a better owner with deep pockets. HP is like a cat that got bored with
a live mouse, so it decided to kill it just to see what would happen.
The mouse was still breathing, so the cat decided to torture it a little
longer, just for fun. When the cat completely lost interest in the mouse,
he dumped it at your front door, free of charge.

(yes, I'm describing every cat that I ever had )
