How do I download webOS Doctor for Touchpad from HP
and save the file on my computer?

I went to HPwebOS.com and logged into my webOS account
which I originally set up on my Touchpad. If I click on the
Touchpad listed, it will let me choose webOS Doctor. However,
it downloads in a Java window and only lets me start to Doctor
my Touchpad directly. There doesn't seem to be an option to
just download and save the files on my computer?

    Any advice appreciated!

Keep an eye on this page: WebOS Doctor Versions - WebOS Internals

WebOS-Internals will post an updated link for the direct download shortly, no doubt.

Actually, the file you get from Palm is just an XML file. I opened it up and found the URL. Direct download is here:

    http://palm.cdnetworks.net/rom/touch...4hstnhwifi.jar

Windows Notepad... XML = text file with markup, so it handled it fine.

    HELLO ALL,

I am new to Touch Pad, assisting an owner who'd like everything reset back to the factory settings. Can anyone please point me to a download link for WebOSDoctor? From what I can tell, using this software is the only way to get it back to factory settings. Please correct me if I'm wrong!

If you have created a webOS profile, you can simply log into it on the Manage My Device site, and grab the Doctor file from there. Otherwise, you can find all versions on the webOS Internals site.

Unfortunately, the link above goes to a "sorry" page... after a moment, it proposes to choose the device, but choosing it redirects to the sorry page.
    Is that already the end?

    it still work

    1)
    open http://archive.org

    2)
WebOS Doctor Versions - WebOS Internals

copy the link to the doctor you need ( by example http://downloads.help.palm.com/webos...224mantawr.jar ), then put it in the search field of archive.org.
You will be presented with a page with a calendar , one date has a blue circle, and the page asks you to pick a snapshot. Blue circles highlight snapshots... click on it and you'll be asked where to save the doctor

Am I wrong, and you don't need those jar files?

Those files are jar files. You don't need to open them. They run in java.

The jar files were not even present in the zip files, and I thought they had to be present to be used. My Pre 3 is now stuck and frozen in some loop on the HP logo. Do you know of anything that can be done to get it out of this frozen loop to be able to use webOS doctor?

Have you tried to rename them to jar and run. Maybe your browser or your antivirus renamed them to zip (didn't happen to me but i read in the forum somewhere that it can happen if the original file is zip)

    for HP Pre 3
did you got this file webosdoctorp224mantawr.jar ? if you have webosdoctorp224mantawr.zip than just rename zip at the end to jar, some browsers rename jar to zip

put device in recovery mode, remove battery, put batter back, press voume up + power on, connect it to PC via USB cable and double click the file webosdoctorp224mantawr.jar, it shoud find device and start flashing

    for TouchPad
did you got this file webosdoctorp305hstnhwifi.jar ? if you have webosdoctorp305hstnhwifi.zip than just rename zip at the end to jar, some browsers rename jar to zip

put device in recovery mode, press and hold home button + power on for 20-30 seconds to reset device, than when the device restarts (HP logo you are referring to disapears) press voume up + power on, connect it to PC via USB cable and double click the file webosdoctorp305hstnhwifi.jar, it shoud find device and start flashing
