    newbie alert! How can I put DVDs I own onto my tp to watch later, eg on aeroplane etc? Thanks

    also how much space do they take up - I have the 16gb version

    DVD Fab 8 works great for this just choose the ipad format... and it depends on the movies for the size used.

    I always suggest Handbrake (and either VLC on a Mac or DVDFab on Windows for decrypt), but there are several other utilities for converting DVD's.
    A typical 90 minute move takes about 600-800mb using the iPad settings.

    One of the nice things about the TP is that you can just copy them over via USB and and use the Photos & Videos app to view.

    ok I have a mac and a windows pc available, any thoughts on which is easier? I will investigate the software mentioned. I'm thinking mac might be easier for some reason. Cheers

    I think the Mac is easier since VLC isn't intrusive ad DVDFab, but really Handbrake is the same. But I find myself using my PC more as my i7-2600 Quad Core desktop is quite a bit faster than my last gen 13" MacBook Pro.
