Will HP use Windows 8 tablets as warranty exchanges for Touchpads in a year or two?

Some of the reasons I think this is a possibility, even a remote one:

In a year or two, I don't think HP will have enough refurbished Touchpads to give out
for warranty purposes. (for people who still have the original 1-year warranty, plus
those who bought the 2nd year of HP Care Pack)

It seems very likely that HP will manufacture Windows 8 tablets next year.... as the
biggest maker of Windows PC, I don't see why they won't make Windows 8 tablets.
(even as a new entity, spun off from HP)

A guy can dream, right? (gotta run now, the boss is coming down from the 24th floor)

I thought HP won't be making any hardware.

HP is no longer making hardware of any kind. Laptop, tablet, phone, none. So that is a negative IMO.

Untrue. They have not yet spun-off their PSG. Once they do that the warranties are likely to follow the PSG.

They can't simply walk away from warranties. I imagine they will have to keep their refurbs handy or offer some sort of discount to a new product later.

It is true once they spin off PSG HP will no longer make them, whether the warranties will spin off is unknown atm.

Your statement was still false. HP is currently still making hardware of many kinds.

That's not true. They only said they will stop making all hardware related to webOS.

... and in coming months they will sell or spun off PSG = hardware manufacturing. Only printers and servers are staying in HP.

Was the Touchpad hardware division ever part of PSG?

I imagine if PSG gets spun off, the Touchpad's hardware warranty
administration will still be the responsibility of the new company.

On the other hand, trying to figure out what HP is planning
to do next is harder than placing bets on race horses!
