Touchpad is refusing to connect over the USB?

I plug it in and get all the right messages at the Touchpad end, I even get an extra drive icon but then it fails to connect with 'USB connection failed' and if I double click the drive icon it just tell me to insert a disc!

It worked yesterday and I transferred some ebooks over, but today it having none it. I haven't installed anything new since then nor has the system updated.

I've even uninstalled the driver and reinstalled it.

There's no virus checker getting in the way, I've rebooted the system, nothing?

Anyone had this happen and found a fix ??

    I'm running w7 (64 bit) on a Dell studio 1749...

I get it every now and then. A full reboot usually cures it.

I've lost count of the number of times I've rebooted today. It makes no difference, it will not connect over USB?

There either something wrong with it, or its terribly unreliable ?

I am having the exact same issue. However, I have never been able to get the computer to recognise the Touchpad as a new external drive in usb mass storage mode. I have done full reboots several times of both the TP and the computer (to no avail). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Dcartes-
