Has any one tried looking at one of the many FireFox/Chrome extensions for ideas?

Here is copy of the one I use in Chrome. It is in plain java script and html.

    Just a thought.

Wish I could help you guys. Unfortunately the Youtube app is not open source, so I can't even build something using their code.

I'll take a look at that Chrome example. I'm sure there are ways to do it.

I don't know what to say about those who don't have webOS phones, but this is what I did:

    1. Download video from my Pre+ w/ patched YouTube app.
    2. Upload video from phone to box.net
    3. Download video from box.net to my Touchpad

The videos are saved as MP4 so I suppose I can just move the files directly over from phone-->pc-->touchpad. But wirelessly, that 50Gb of box.net sure comes in handy.

can you use box.net on the phone? I can't find it.

Depending on what the final option to download would look like we MIGHT be able to use keep-tube.com IF someone is able to do a browser patch that would allow one to view page source. Normally you right click. If there is already a way to do it, I haven't figured it out. Keep tube has a non java option if you have page source. I haven't been on my main pc to try it, and no telling if the TP can actually accept a dl from it.
The value of knowledge is not in its possession, but in its use.

I used this way to download videos from Youtube .
Copy video ULR from youtube site .
Use Advanced browser go to : SAVEVIDEO.ME: download youtube video, download vimeo, facebook and more!
Paste your ULR to it, then click download, it will get the download link for you.

Then used Internalz Pro, go to the directory / media / internal / downloads /
you will see the name of the downloaded file is often called filexxxxxx
, click it, select Info, then click next to the file name at the top,
rename the video name you want with xxxxx.mp4
    Save .
    And Done !
