    holy carp! Check this out.

Wife just called our Aarons. Lady said they would be getting some 1st of next month. Wanted $116.58/mo to rent for 12 months or $899.99 to buy outright! Yep, you read right, $899.99! Twice the original price! Now it's my turn to call. Can't wait to see what they tell me.

Has anyone figured out what laptop it needs to be bundled with and if we can just buy the bundle and sell off the laptop? I went to one store yesterday and he just told me it was a compaq but wouldn't give me the model number. There was a lady buying the bundle as I was leaving and I offered her cash for the TP but she said her son wanted it and that was why she was buying the laptop (why won't my mom do that?). I called another store and he said he'd get back to me.

$899 for a TouchPad and a laptop isn't too bad if I can sell the laptop for $750.

I got the four stories mentioned here, "Only with HP laptop rental", "Available in Sept.", "Didn't have any", and finally "$179.99". Unfortunately I was unable to get the 20% off on retail purchases. So, that put my cost at about $190, which is close to the cheapest EBay price, but I didn't support someone selling on EBay or Craigslist, got a leather case, and didn't have to worry about it being some sort of scam.
    Aaron's IS a scam.

It's not a scam, read my earlier post explaining how rent to own works. People just ignore what the contract says and how much they actually pay for a product. Their target customer is not someone who can afford to purchase items outright like we are trying to do. But there are many regulations they must follow and in the end the customer makes the decision to pay that much.

In the meantime, off to Aarons I go!

I know how RTO works. That's why I say it is a scam. RTO is a scam that preys on the poor. Kind of like lottery tickets and casinos.

its a POS compaq that is worth 300 dollars and they want 700+ for the bundle! I gave them my name and number so they could call me when they would sell them retail

I called a couple in town and they are either not selling them till next month (???), or would only sell them with a laptop bundle. I found one locally at Best Buy, so I am not that worried about getting another, but it would be nice to have another so my wife will give mine back!

If others have tips about their success in breaking free from the bundle, let us all know!

That's exactly the guy I'm talking about. The manager at the E Main store said he was always a real *****, in so many words.

I ended up driving out to Heath. I got their last sealed one but I think the girl said the one in the display case was a real one. Give 'em a call and ask if they still have it.

One of the stores I called said this too, but when I clarified and said "so $900 for the tablet?" she said they didn't have any tablets. I'm pretty sure the employees saying this are misunderstanding what you are asking for, and probably think you mean Touchsmart (as in the touchscreen PC) and not Touchpad.

you may be on to something. When I called I got a male employee. He had no idea if they would be getting any in. Same store, 2 different answers.

I called the next closest Aarons and at least the girl talked like she knew what the Touchpad was. Had no idea if they would be betting any next month. She said she couldn't even look in the computer and see if she had any in stock, supposedly she needed know the "number". Guess she meant the item number Aaron's assigns to the TP. She didn't say anything about a bundle and guessed it will lease for $100/mm. Suggested I check their website around the first of the month.

Touchpad is 19.99 a month for 12 months or 179.99 4 months same as cash. The SKU listed on my Aarons box was 7360HT1. I hope that helps. Also had item number 1501574906.

okay guys, Aaron's manager here. First off, not a RTO company..lease to own. Difference in our eyes.. Anyway, the deal with all the different selling, not selling, leasing as a bundle I can t sell till the 1st stuff is because its Regional manager discretion. The only email we got from home office was to use common sense. Since there was not a direct yes or no from home office, it was at the whim of the RM. For example, our region we would encourage to add to a laptop for 19.99 for 12 but if someone wanted to buy, we would sell it at our retail price of 179.99 with no 20% discount. We got 10 in Friday and now they're gone. We ended putting only 2 on lease and retailing the rest. At looking in the warehouses, which in our area serves about 240 stores, had 1100 more on order but now they aren't listed so who knows. Aarons has 11 FC centers around the country serving our 1800+ stores so everywhere will be different. So, that's the deal. Any specific questions, PM me.

Hi guys. I was wondering if any of you had any luck getting the 20% off discount at any houston(tx) locations. If you did could you let me know which ones? Thanks.

this is where I got my 2 16gb tp's at 140 a piece, but came with a pretty nice case so I thought it was a pretty good deal.

there was only one store selling them, the rest said they could not, nor would they discount if they could. For the record, it was the speedway, Indiana store....manager was bj.

big thanks to the OP for posting this, if mot for you I wouldn't have a touchpad right now, but I'm still looking for a 32gb.

I got it in Framingham MA. I know that doesn't answer your question but what you need to do is ask for the regional manager and they have the authority to offer you that price. I believe it is worth it since the case is pretty darn decent. Even though HP just announced they would be making more TouchPad's I think it is going to be very hard to find one without have to put a ton of effort into locating one. Good luck!!!

Tampa Bay area had some yesterday, certain stores said they get a truck Monday, some said Tuesday. My friend and I both picked one up each yesterday and one last Thursday.. Keep checking around. The rep was super nice about telling me exactly when they were expecting them and one even called me to let me know that they were in (after I had already gotten one at a different location).

I noticed a Craigslist ad in my area saying that they had bought a Touchpad at Aarons for about $155. I called 3 stores in my area and got 3 completely different answers.

#1: No Touchpads and won't be carrying them

#2: Getting some Monday, wanting $799 or whatever insane price

#3: Getting some Tuesday and cash and carry is $179.99. I didn't ask if they would give the 20% discount on it or not.

Aaron's also claims to beat any competitors price or give you $100. I would think that this would apply and according to their website, it includes ads for online or stores and 30 days.

You would be wrong. These fraudsters get away with not honoring their policy by doing something like including a $3 chinese case that absolutely cannot be unbundled, that way they can say "Nope not the same product! We include the case!" and screw you.

The scumbag manager at the one I went to actually told me the reason they can't sell it without the case is because its INSIDE the box. When I told him to prove it, he brings a brown shipping box with the sealed Touchpad, and a cheapo case sitting on top of it. Apparently to him the mailing box is the same thing as the product retail box.
